r'aggro you have all the right stuff to get an insane fsb, so use it!
It requires a ThermalRight XP-120 HS for K8 and a 120mm 103 CFM fan to cool the beast! It's vidcard spits out FPS like there's no tomorrow. It uses the nForce3-250Gb chipset! An assault on the 3DMark Team summit is intended!
Check out this monster HS:

Ahhh....the XP120! I wanted to get it, but it may have a compatibility problem with my Abit KV8 Pro r1.1 mobo....at least, that's what a rep over at Thermalright has informed me. here's the msg for those who have the same board as me :
KV8 Pro with the coil on the PWM area is right next to our K8 adaptive RM. Which mean the stainless steel RM clips are about 1mm from damage the paint onthe coil during installation. My former colleagues from ABIT RD Division, HW Verification Lab tested the mechanical on their motherboards and decided the possible risk of end-users damage their motherboard is too high. MSI seems to be a better layout motherboard in this scenario.
Damn! And I so wanted it!
hating to rain on your parade OS, but...Quote:

i've got a preorder for the DFI board...
i've got RAM that does 271mhz 2-2-2
but good luck, the competition will be great :) BTW, what board is that? Epox? using a 3700 Clawhammer?
Not the Epox ;)
Black PCB...hrm MSI 754 board?
Esch -- where do you have a preorder for the DFI?
ah, the MSI, forgot about that one.
contact [email protected] for preorder information.
There's only about 1/2" between it and the back of the vidcard which has me somewhat worried when I add a third-party cooler to the card. We'll see. It slightly overhangs the IDE2 port and memory DIMM1, but no problem mounting stuff in either.Quote:

Got tired of waiting for the DFI mobo and was a tad worried about their being a bit finicky. I hope your's is rock solid stable! I'm going to try the OCZ PC3700EB first and see how it does. If it doesn't do well I'm thinking of trying the new Crucial Ballistix (always trusted Micron/Crucial, glad they're back in the game). Hmmm 2-2-2 @ 271mhz, must be the Mushkin you picked up awhile back???? Yup, 3700+ Clawhammer. MSI K8N Neo Platinum nForce3-250Gb which gave a little grief until I downloaded and installed the latest BIOS flash and drivers, otherwise smooth install. Will install a eVGA 6800 Ultra later today and get start some preliminary benching.Quote:

ah, a 6800... you should be able to make a run at '03, but i don't know about '01...
Mmm, nice...Might have to jump in on preordering as well, too bad my chip ain't the best, something like 2.4 on 1.7v :\ Just waiting on my vid card to get back in, watercooling is all set up and whatnot for it ;)
Whats the vcore on the DFI? 1.85?
2 :)Quote:

@ 230 fsb, CPC had to be disabled regardless of voltages or anything else or the bench would crash everytime; this cost 1000 marks.:(
With it off, I ran it successfully at 242 x 10.5 and got back over 20K, but still didn't equal yesterday's best. (225 x 10.5, cpc on)
guess 1T is pretty important after all, not sure what to do about this.
turn up your memory voltageQuote:

OS-Wiz good luck but on that XP-120 theres a big dead air spot right itnhe cneter because of the motor on the 1200mm fan so just do what watercooling people do on the rads. and try and use a shroud or a ductmod
edit: btw nice geforce 8600 in your sig...;)
haha, he's got the mid-grade geforce 8. it's almost as fast as the high-end geforce 7, but it only has a 512bit memory interface, so when you turn AA up to 24x you won't get the same performance. The good news is you can run 4 of them in SLI^2 config and each one renders a 640x480 image for 2560x1920 res :)Quote:

haha no, i didn't mention how my new, pre-volt modded and LN2 cooled Ti4200 clocked 1200/3000 is *almost* as fast as this card at stock, so it's not worth upgrading.
i'm selling my 9800 for a ATI rage 128 since ts almost as fast and i dont need AA and i can't see past 3 fps anywayways. With that and since my cpu is already at 2.7 then i'll get 6 ghz on phase change and i'll get 56,431.9532 3dmarks in 01 and i wont bench 03 cause it wont fully utilize my cpu's power. :p
anyways.. esbach hows the phase change deal goin?
i can't order until sept. 10th (moving!) so i'm just looking around and weighing my options until then. I can do the PC ICE $400 deal at any time, but if i find a used Vapo or prommie for a reasonable price, i might go for that too. Should be fun no matter what happens :)Quote:

Yup, beta testing that 98th gen card for them :DQuote:

So far I'm happy with that monster XP-120 w/120mm fan (btw, its much lighter than a SP-94, but I don't like the way you have to mount it. I'll do a review of it later and see if I can get it posted at the 3DMark Team site.). So far, with just a tad of OCing, I can't get load temp above 50-52c with case temp 31-33c. And the Silverstone 120mm fan, even at max rpm of 3k, isn't near as loud as my old 90mm Tornado.
Anyway, trying to learn how to OC w/new mobo, CPU, and vidcard, and its driving me nuts :D
Woot, replacement card in, watercooling installed, maybe some benching action later! (Maybe)
CPU and GPU both Idle at 32C (Ambient is 30 :\)
hey esbach i tihnk this would really help you out on your phase change hunt
