Theres nothing wrong with 15k. I remember when 6k was outstanding. :) What are the rest of your computer specs? If your really into 3dmarks/tweaking/OCing etc. check out my 3dmark guide( link in my sig).Quote:

I'm happy that I just broke 15,000 on 2k1 and 5,000 on 2k3 with my P4 2.53ghz @ stock and my 9700 overclocked (with some heavy tweaking, too). :cool:

I dont think I will make it on the board with that Canterwood board... They just dont overclock well with the lower fsb processors...
Well atleast this is my experience from this board and the other person who has the Springdale...
So back to the 8PE667 U I go... But atleast I can water cool that and get the #2 spot with a core of over 400Mhz :)
I'm thinkin' about grabbing the Epox or Abit mobo. The only thing that disappoints me with the Epox is the limited vcore. Though the pin vcore mod would easily fix that problem. Over at Vr-zone the Epox hit 297 FSB with an unlocked 3ghz ES.

Part of what following the guide included was separting my game/app installs from my Windows installation (having them on separate partitions), and I'm happy with the results. I'm keeping more current on my defrags, and that combined with the separation has my Battlefield maps loading noticeably faster. :) This has also been the first installation I've broken 15k on. I was around 14,740 on 2k1 and 4,800 on 2k3 before.
Relevant computer specs (hard drives are 7200RPM 2mb Cache):
- P4 2.53ghz
- Asus P4T533-C
- 512mb PC1066 RDRAM (Samsung)
- Sapphire Radeon 9700 flashed to Gigabyte 9700 Pro @ 335/324 (could push core further)
I could push the FSB a little no problem, but I'm not sure how far I could get on RDRAM, let alone with the retail cooler.

Have you tried OC'ing the CPU? How high of FSB did you obtain? I've read usually the Samsung RDRAM works well up to the mid 150's FSB. Though I've seen afew extreme OC'ers get their RDRAM way past that.
BTY, when you state "retail cooling", is that with the dreaded thermal tape? I pray not... :o

Sorry, Pyro; I should have been a bit more clear; retail cooling means the retail heatsink/fan with AS3. No heatsink on my system goes without AS3 (including my Radeon 9700 HS). ;)
The most I've pushed the FSB is 142, and that was just for a brief moment; I didn't even do any testing. I'm worried most about temperatures, as low temps are one of the things I love most about my Intel system (before this system I was running a hot 1.1ghz T-bird in a cramped mid-tower). :mad:
According to Asus Probe 2, as I type this (with a few IE windows and Winamp running), my CPU temp is at 33C, and my MB temp is at 32C. Those are up a little bit from what I remember, most likely due to the increased ambient temperatures. Think I have some headroom to play?
anyway to get my FX Ultra in the mix?
OpStar, post the links to your 3d mark 2001 & 2003 scores here so that Pyro can add them to the database.
Definitely...If you want to keep it on the ultra safe side just start upping your FSB slowly and find the maximum, stable FSB you can obtain with default voltages. I can run my 2.53 with retail HSF/AS3 at 154FSB 24/7 no problem at default vcore.Quote:

I'd say I have roughly 5 degrees C room to play with. I've been running Prime 95 since I made the previous post, and Probe has the temps sitting at 45C CPU and 31C for the motherboard. I know I could safely breach 50C, but that's the highest I like to see temps.
I agree, 50C is the limits for me. Well, actually 40C. :)
Working on small FSB increases now with Prime 95 bouts in between. We'll see how far this thing can go. Is Prime 95 sufficient in itself, or should I run 3D Mark or something as well once I start getting up there?
In the meantime, I have to figure out a bug with something during Windows startup. Some applications won't run for roughly 1-2 minutes (like WCPUID or even the advanced tab under the start menu properties...very weird) after startup for some reason, and the CPU isn't even in use outside the idle process. :mad:

I would run both side by side so you are super duper sure its stable. :)

I had the exact same problems. The SP1 I think was susposed to fix this. Though it didn't do a bit of difference on my computer. But I don't have the problem anymore. I uncheck all startup applications in msconfig.
Still working on both the OC'ing and the problem -- testing out 142FSB now.
As far as the problem goes, in browsing google, some guy thought it might have something to do with drive mapping. I wonder if that has any truth to it, seeing as I'd never seen this problem beforehand. What makes it really weird is that it only affects certain applications and tasks.
