for the past few years every writer has been praising NE, saying every other team should take a page out of their playbook (guess they would be taking their own page back now huh?) and do things their way, they are the model for success....now they are dumped on as being the barry bonds of football teams.

Aside from their "cheating", NE IS the model for a very well run team.
AFTER the scandal broke... what is NE's score again? How have they been doing after getting busted out?
Clearly there is something other than their "cheating" which is factoring in here.
NE doesn't overpay for talent. Period. They believe in having a much more well rounded team than having a few stars at a few positions and then college calibre guys at other positions. I don't think that anyone can argue with that model.
They also seem to have exceedingly few prima donnas on the team. The players seem to buy well into the "team" concept. I think that it spoke volumes of the team a few years ago when at the introduction to the Superbowl, they wree introduced as a TEAM instead of individually.
Even after the scandal, I still see a class organization.
