Here's the problem with that: the 'young team with talent' is always one of the first to get bounced out of the playoffs. I like Kampman and Hawk a lot, but you can never tell how your post season will go until you get there. I'd also be careful using the term "shutdown corner". There really are only a handful of those in the whole league.

Besides, every team has good, young wideouts. And I'm skeptical that Favre will finish the year looking as good as he does now. If all these things fall into place for GB, then power to ya.

I hope he falls apart. Otherwise I don't know if the Lions are gonna be able to get one game from them.

Look, the cowboys got slapped around by the pats so until they beat the colts or patriots they are still simply kings of the junior varsity. They had homefield advantage and still couldn't beat the patriots. All the talk and hype doesn't mean anything unless they back it up on the field and they didn't. As for Green Bay...they have played very well but eventually favre is going to come back down to earth and the mediocre running game will bite them in the ***. They'll cruise to 13 or so wins but there is no way they are beating the pats/colts with such an anemic running attack. Sadly, we won't see those teams play unless they meet in the super bowl so this is all conjecture, we won't see what the packers are really capable of until the playoffs, or possibly when they play the cowboys.

I agree with this 100%.

"Shutdown corners" are a rarity in this league.

The last two that really even come to mind to me were Patrick Surtain, and Sam Madison for the 'Phins back when they were actually good.

And that was ages ago.

I think that the current reality is that teams are happy with two "good" corners.

In case you didn't remember, the cowboys were the first ones to beat the Colts last year, and they are much better this year.

I'd rather have two above average, well rounded cb's than a shutdown corner.

Having a true shutdown cb = the other guy gets picked on.

Unless you were like the Broncos last year, where even your second corner was one of the better ones in the league.

when you say greenbay has two shutdown corners I sure hope you aren't counting chuck woodson as one, he's a scrub...

Harris is good though, he'd make the extended list imo.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Cowboys are a very good team that definitely improved. Romo is more consistent and they have a strong running game to complement his abilities. The problem is that I think Indy is still a notch better when healthy - though losing Freeney may change things - and the patriots got a hell of a lot better. Yes the Cowboys beat the Colts last year, but the Colts won the superbowl so I'm going to give them the edge, at least until we see how they do without freeney and if/when harrison comes back.

I think the Cowboys have to be the favorite to win the NFC and the Patriots the favorite to win the AFC.
