2 ties this week - Cleveland/Baltimore & Philadelphia/Miami
Everyone picked Pittsburgh and New Orleans this week, both lost.
I couldn't believe that ending to the Browns game. Joshua Cribbs should go to the Pro Bowl this year. He gives the team such great field position game after game. Against Pittsburg, he had a kickoff return for TD, another to the 1 yard line, and at the end of the game he gave them a shot. This week, he caused a fumbled on a kickoff, ran a punt to the 1 yard line, and then had a terrific return to setup that last second field goal and then returned the ball 41 yards in OT. Nothing beats getting great starting position and he's continually done that for the Browns.

I don't see the problem with running up the score. This is the NFL, not the peewee leagues.
These people are all paid professionals. The teams all have a salary cap. The NFL has long been admired for it's parity. This year there happens to be a team who has put together one of the greatest squads ever and they happen to be putting a beating to every other team in the country.
This isn't the Yankees or the Lakers buying a championship. This is an extremely well developed, well coached, excellent all around team.
Who cares if they're up over 30 points? Do you think that lead is impossible to catch? Even just looking at this year there have been a lot of 4th quarter comebacks that have come close or perhaps even surpassed that number. Hell, *Detroit* scored 34 points in the 4th quarter against the Bears back in week 4.

You want to keep them from running up the score, STOP THEM. Make a stop, for crap's sake.
Personally, and this is just my view, those are the perfect times to put in the 2nd stringers and give them some play time and experience, and most importantly, keep the highly valuable starters from getting hurt from a cheap shot from a frustrated defender.
Can you imagine how much flak Belichick would take if Brady (or Moss, or whoever) went down with a serious injury after leading by 35 points?
In the history of the NFL only like 18 games have ever had a comeback larger than 20 points, iirc. Buffalo v. Houston in the playoffs in the early 90s is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that was in the 30s, and that was 32.Quote:

Detroit never trailed by more than 10 points in that game, and that changes the whole way everything is played. 10 points isn't much, so the Bears were still playing like they had to score; by the time you hit a 3 score game, about 20 points or more, the leading team usually slows the game down, runs a lot more, and puts an emphasis on getting the game over rather than running it up. Not saying huge comebacks aren't possible, but you're making it sound like 30 points is no big deal. Hell, 20 point comebacks are very few and far between in the NFL.
I'm would not be a fan of running up the score by any team that I like. I really don't want to give them something to remember the next time we play. All the Patriots are doing is getting teams more and more fired up to beat them or even take a dirty shot against a key player. All it takes is one lineman accidently rolling up Brady's leg and the season for them is over.
