NICE work!!!
Thanks buddy! I'll get some pics up here later for people that haven't seen a setup like that, need some rest now though. ;)
Yes, -would VERY like to see some pics of
a hi-end setup.
Have a few Cold ones on your accomplishment
i've got to hand it to you mike, those are some fantastic scores. not only are you #6 in the world but you're almost 10k ahead of everyone else here at sharky. it's going to be hard to even make it look close anymore :)
so what kind of temps were you getting with the DI?
wow Mike 42.2k this is most impressive and one heck of a score for eshbach or anyone else to try to even come close! Your not far from 4th place in the world either! I checked Mickymouse's score and for him being 100MHz and some fsb behind you, he sure looks awfully close in both cars and both lobbies to you and got you in drag low by 10fps and 15fps in nature.
Have you used codered tweaker and run the right test orders? lobby low, lobby high, car high, drag high, drag low, car low and nature works best for me, try that order. I can run other orders but whatever I do, if I dont run lobby low first, my score is always lower cause of the hit I take in lobby low not running it first. sorry about your gpu not liking higher volts, if you really want to get 4th place you could always sell yours and get another that may like volts, you will probably break even too cause yours overclocks well=good resell value.
Its just amazing when I think about it, our own sharky member is the 6th in the world, unlimited class! possible 4th with another x850xt! How did you get them cpu clocks higher? dry ice? cascade? I wish eshbach luck when he gets r520(or even two if amr is supported by then) hes gonna no doubt need a diego fx55 at least if not fx57 for 2001 and to a lesser extent, 2003. He however could easily get first place in lesser gpu classes such as 9800pro, 9800xt, x800pro, perhaps even x800xt with a diego :D plus said gpu would be much cheaper. I am top page of the orb for my gpus you see in my sig
As for the cpu im getting, its gonna have to be a Venice, just dont have $600 funds for a diego 4000+ and its not gonna matter that much without at least an x800pro anyway but then were talking $900 easy  However I think I can have the world record for air cooled on all my other gpus with a nice $200 3200+ Venice at like 300x10 2.5-3-3-10 ram timing, might even try for 30k with my 9800pro if it clocks well enough and if I decide to keep it(will do if it clocks well) Yes I know 1mb s754 claw is the only affordable 1mb cache but its not gonna come close to a Venice due to farrrrrr higher Venice clocks.
I think Venice may even be better than fx53 if there is more than 200-300MHz difference. average fx53 does 2.65GHz so we would need 2.85 to 2.95 Venice to beat that fx53. No one know how far Venice or Diego will do but its very possible Venice may actually be as good or better when overclocked and also much cheaper. I still see fx51 cpus going for like $300 but they cant touch my $160 winchester cause I have so much higher clocks and fx51 uses very slow registered ram, meh!
tbird, that order does not work well with the X800 seires. I'm sure mike is using the right order.
I have no doubts about Mike's skills, I was just wondering what my order would do. I am also wondering how can Mickymouse be so close to Mike despite 100MHz cpu clocks because when I clock my cpu 100MHz less I lose alot more in the cpu tests and we know how cpu intensive x8** are. congras again Mike and id be honored to talk to you on aim, put a reminder to log in :D
@ Ryder: lol, "high-end bench setup", not quite a traditional high-end setup. Just had to qualify that. ;)
@ eshbach: DI temps were pretty amazing. No matter the cpu clocks it held around -69.5C idle in XP, -68.5C loaded and in 2K/ACPI. The only thing that changed was how often I had to dump more ice in. I had a probe right on the side of the block. One of those pics I'm linking shows -69.6C, that was taken while in XP at 3.5GHz and 1.85V....couldn't quite 3d there.
@ T-Bird: MM gets 400 points just in those 2 tests, plus another frame or so in some of the others due to gpu. The rest I think is due to my mem @ 267 and probably some errors from them. After 260 MHz I can't give them much tweaking, and 267 is the fastest I've ever had them in Windows. I went ahead and took a little hit and kept them that speed because 240's with the 14 multi just hurt even more. Oh, and I won't chase higher until r520 or FX-57 comes out. 8K, 18K, and 42K were the most I was hoping for, so I'm there. I might take one more crack at 3.5GHz with my BH-5 at 270 MHz tonight since I still have some DI, but I'm not real motivated after an all nighter.
And pics:
Getting setup. I just used the LS socket kit and some extra grease spread around the edges, just in case. Mobo was mounted on a piece of shelving I put stand-offs on and had a mobo sized piece of foam sandwiched in between. My lazy butt left the psu in my case so the green wire on the vc and mobo is extra grounding to the back of the psu.

And in all it's glory. Probes and wires and fans everywhere, lol. I cut out one of those diposable Glad dishes and wedged that over the foam at the top of the tube. "Mike-proofing". :) http://mysite.verizon.net/res6otqr/s...s/DSCN0874.jpg
That 3.5GHz temp shot: http://mysite.verizon.net/res6otqr/s...s/DSCN0882.jpg
And one more...a look inside. This was at the end of the night, the vapors had made an pretty nice ice build up at the top by then.

good stuff mike, -70C is pretty solid for DI.
just out of curiosity, are you using some of the mounting hardware for the DD maze4 gpu block on your x850? i do the same exact thing if so :)
very impressive photos! How many pounds of DI did you have, how much left and how fast do you go thru? Might have enough left for a quick bh5 run in 2001 ;)
mikead_99.......................
Dude, I am just lost for words!!
Impressive stuff...
I dont even know what to ask or where to begin :)
I agree completely, very impressive indead. Mikead_99 you have obviously become one of the "who's who" of overclocking and benchmarking. Keep up the good work :DQuote:

Geez, mike, is there a computer underneath all that? Your pic kinda reminds of another's, Shamino, everything's hanging out in the open like that! But damn! Your scores are so impressive that the ranger has dropped by to compliment you.;) Hey ranger, how's everything bud....hope you're enjoying life and work (IF such a thing is even conceiveable):p :D
Think this will help?Quote:

Kingwin Arctic Liquid Cooling for CPU :D
Its time to get rid of some more noise. And the 60C load temperature. That $99 water cooling kit looks fairly decent. This chip looks like it could handle 2.6Ghz+ stable, but I will have to go to about 1.75v and my cooling will not handle it. I did 2.53Ghz stable at 1.67v (actual reading, 1.7 in BIOS).
Eric
Thanks again for the comments guys, I really appreciate the support. Especially from you "old-schoolers", good that you guys pop in to the team thread still.
eshbach, yup, DD thumb screws and plexi plate on the back for the gpu. :)
mikey, lol, I'm going to have to show a pic when I get it all stuffed back in the case, just to make sure we all know it actually is a computer. :D
DOH! Forgot to update your fantastic scores mike....they're done! You're 5th in the world right now? Keep the SF flag waving on the 1st page of the ORB.;)
ewitte, you're updated too....I think I'm gonna have to do something about my '05 score.....I believe you have me beat.:( Now, all I have to do is 'unlazy' myself (I shudder at the very concept!):p :D
Thats all good until I get the memory/watercooling and run like 265x10 2.5-3-3-7 ;)Quote:

****, catchin up to me as well...
i might have to grab some h2o and raise my score.

how much is that tccd? How much is gskill pc4400le? whatever you do, make sure you get some with brainpower pcb. also youll need to run 1 stick for benching as you are likley to get higher clocks then. You really need win2k, either dual boot or better yet your own 3dmark drive like I have. I also game with 2k cause its faster but thats up to you. You could just stick to air cooling and drop down to 9x multi and raise the fsb to 280 and that would give you 2.53GHz and much needed ram bandwith cause your single channel. Use 2.5-3-3-10 timing too, ras-cas4 kills performance. Use ricky tweak and LOD(if you want bad iq but 250+ nature) then you should gain thousands of marks when all is said and done. right now your scoring less than my 450/380 9800pro and 512k cache cpu
I actually got the highest scores in XP64. Maybe I should intall that again. Especially if they have newer drivers. The way I have XP setup it would barely make a difference in 2000. The memory was $260.Quote:

win2k will always be faster, period but thats your call if you want to beat my 3dmark scores ;) $260 is too much, you could have gotten gskill for like $10 more if any is still left that is. 280x9 would be alot better than 252x10 too.
Not with a lot of tweaking in XP and 2000 not getting the best drivers anymore. I had to order it where I could. I got a few points off of that Ricky tweak. It looks like I'll get a lot with your LOD hack  Of course its a meaningless score then. I'll finish it after I get of my webcam session. This memory seems to max out around 280 too before having to go 2t.Quote:

If you have win2k, I suggest you try that too before commenting on xp being as fast cause thats totally false. All the top scores use win2k cause its always faster, period. win2k can be tweaked too, ya know?
Can you explain why your car high and every other test for the matter is so low? Eshbach also commented on your very poor dragon low fps. As for the type of ram you got, I guess samsung has discountinued gskill. I got 2x256 quickly when I heard news of that! I am sure gskill is still around if you can find anyone willing to sell an extra set. I am aware there might be even better ram being made, that coupled with the better ondie controller of venice may prompt me to sell my patriot and maybe even gskill, time will tell. I respect you for not using LOD, I would probably do a bench with LOD and one without LOD and put both scores in the sig.
"This memory seems to max out around 280 too before having to go 2t."
If you can hit 280fsb at 2.5-3-3-10 t1 then thats good, run 280 with 9x multi and watch your score soar like crazy!
yep, 2k is faster no matter what you do to XP.Quote:

I'll try it. Its odd that my last CPU got the highest score in XP64. It was about 2000 above at one time. At least before the 7X.x drivers. On a side note this caazc chip seems to be doing good elsewhere. I found someone got over 3Ghz on it (air), another got 2.85 at 1.55v!Quote:

Never mind, the 3Ghz used a vapochill
