The commentary after the game siad just that... that on two of the INTs that there was miscommunication between Eli and the receiver. It's entirely possible that some of the INT stat is the fault of the receiver. Takes two to communicate.

(remember the Dallas-Pittsburgh SB about ten years ago? Neil O'Donnell throwing picks to a wide open Larry Brown? Who then became the SB MVP and was out of the league a few seasons later?)

What I will say about Eli is that he is inconsistent. He can throw 4 TDs one game, and then 4 INTs the next. There are flashes of brilliance... mixed in with flashes of Testeverde in Tampa Bay.

I still think that the Pats are the real deal.

I just think that the game highlighted the importance of putting pressure on a QB like Brady.

I have thought for quite some time that Jim Johnson's blitzes are brilliant. The Eagles seem to get pretty consistent pressue on other QBs (even though other aspects of their defence is spotty).

Where Jim Johnson's well designed blitzes worked, many others teams won't. Many other teams will blitz and not get the pressure... which a guy like Brady will destroy.

I thought it amusing that even in a win... people have started doubting the Pats.

yeah man, how dumb is that....he isn't even the best williams on the team....they drafted paul williams (wr) out of fresno state, that's sad...he isn't even the best williams at his own position on his own team.

Pats looked vulnerable, wow, Feely comes into hostile territory and for all intents and purposes lights up NE, what the hell.

Every team will have bad games, it says something for NE that they managed to win anyway.

I think they are the real deal and it's killing me, but I feel that their defense is the weak link. They aren't as unbalanced as say the Bears offense vs. deffense, but more like the Colts of years past. I just don't see any teams besides the Ravens that might keep them under 20.

The steelers could if they play a good game. They pressure similar to Philly, except they Zone blitz and you don't know who is coming or who is dropping back in coverage. The key in that game will be if they can muster a running game, had Philly been able to run the ball they probably would have won.
I was scratching my head at that 2nd and 4 pass they went into that went into the end zone. There was a ton of time left, they where already in field goal range. I would have run the ball there...worst case its 3rd and 4 or something like that. If you get that first down you have plenty of time to go for the TD, or at least get closer for a field goal.

yeah I just heard that on "today", I feel sad and I don't know why, guy was just 24! how ****ed is that..... I know he was an a-hole and a punk, but damn man, that was all pretty sudden, what the hell....he was a pretty damn good safety too.

What a waste.

The reports that I am hearing make it sound like it wasn't a random burglary.

In fact, I have heard that the girlfriend couldn't call 911 initially, because the phone lines to the house had been cut.

I think that this guy was involved with the wrong crowd.

And for someone with his wealth, and fame... how the hell does he not have an excellent alarm system and even guards? I mean... they make his home sound like just anyone elses!

5 INTs despite having missed the last two games because of injury. Who knows how many that he would have ended up with. A definite playmaker.

Exactly. Two of the worst pass defenses in the league. Hell, even I might post a a couple of TD's against those defenses. OK, maybe not, but they're still bad by NFL standards :)

As for the Pats...
Yes, they showed the Pats D has weaknesses. Belichek can probably correct some of those deficiencies with game planning, but the Pats secondary is clearly their biggest weakness. You have to give the Eagles credit for an outstanding game plan that caught the Pats off guard. They have also been one of the few, if only, teams to get consistent pressure on Brady. I think that is a testament to how good the Eagles' D line is. The Pats have kept other teams at bay as their O line has done a fantastic job. However, Brady was still able to pick that defense apart very efficiently even though the pats "only" put up 24 points on the offensive end.

Let's not forget though, that the Pats lost 3 players in the secondary to injuries during the game and the Eagles needed an onside kick to get the score where it was. That doesn't even take into account the phantom offensive pass interference on Moss negating a touchdown and the blown call on the ensuing field goal (replays showed it was good). Not saying any of this discredits the game, just that the Eagles had a couple of breaks go there way to hang with the Pats.

Bottom line is that yes, NE is not invulnerable, you just have to play well and have a very good game plan to beat them, something the Eagles almost pulled off. In fact the Eagles should have won or sent that game into overtime on the last drive but botched it with that long bomb that was intercepted.

Phone lines being cut doesn't necessarily convince me of anything, could just be a really careful/career burglar. It WAS apparently the second time this week somebody broke in, though.

I don't think that the Pats secondary is that bad. Samuel is awesome as is Harrison I think.

I DO think that the Eagles D line is very good. And Jim Johnson's blitzing schemes are brilliant. I think the pressure that they were able to bring was *the* major part of why they could hang with the Pats that game.

I also think that it's hard to consistently stay with your "A" game the entire season. I think that the Pats may have had a letdown game. I fully anticipate that they will continue to be the juggernaught that they were for the rest of the season.

I have never thought this before... but I really think that this team has the ability to go undefeated. I find it kind of amusing that the naysayers are now saying that the Pats are vulnerable. I do think that any team *can* be beat... I just think that with the Pats, all the planets have to be lined up in the right alignment. I don't think that it'll be done this year... and I have never said that about a team before.

They seemed like they were desperate to punch it in at the end regardless of the cost.

There was a lot of time, and I would have progressively moved it down the field. Worst case scenerio is that you have to settle for a field goal try and go into OT. If you win the coin toss in OT, maybe Brady doesn't even make it back onto the field. I think that Philly was too aggressive/desperate at the end for reasons that I don't understand. That last throw that Samuel picked off wasn't even close... it reeked of desperation.
