I was playing with the score and it looks like I'll be good. And these were conservative guesses using other peoples scores.

3DMark score = (Game1LowDetail + Game2LowDetail + Game3LowDetail) * 10 + (Game1HighDetail + Game2HighDetail + Game3HighDetail + Game4) * 20

currently (X): (353.5+494.2+324.3)*10+(117.5+240.7+147.7+192.2)=11720+13962 =25682

I used (380+540+340)*10+(130+335+155+192)*20
that gives me 12600+16240=28840 in XP. If I factor in my previous LOD score for Nature (250) and +500 for windows 2000 the result is 30500.

I'm fairly sure the dragothic low is because of memory bandwidth. Just by droping the max async value from 7 to 6 with A64 tweaker it increased from 494.2 to 505. Will post one score tonight with the ram and another Sunday with the watercooling.

I will be using a Venice and a tweaked win2k. I compared one of the near 30k with 3GHz:

about 500 marks shy of 30k. hmmm I may need 310x10 on the Venice and at least 500/400 clocks to break 30k. I will have the advantage of massive ram bandwith with TCCD, talk about 1:1 at 2.5-3-3-x due to the good Venice ondie controller. Eshbach's help with tweaked win2k will also play in. I might not get 30k but I sure as heck will try :) no one knows how well those Venice will do either but they could be good enough for 30k

that score you linked to is FX55, much faster clock for clock than venice will be. Also, that's BH5 at 273 1:1 2-2-2. You're not going to have more bandwidth, you're going to have less.

Does 1mb cache still make much of a difference with slower gpus? I mean well be talking like 5fps increase in drag low due to gpu somewhat bottlenecking. I am hearing Venice will have higher IPC, improved ondie controller, etc. I will wait and see how well a 90nm Venice does vs. a 130nm fx55 with gpus slower than x800s. I can easily get way more than 273fsb with Venice's ondie controller and my TCCD, this should easily make up for ras-cas3. I also am saying ill need over 3GHz on the Venice. If 30k doesnt happen, then be it, ill wait for even faster Venice as amd improves their yield and brings out higher speed binned ones then thatll do the trick. Enough cpu power(more GHz with 512k Venice, less GHz with 1mb Diego) and 30k will fall eventrually.

even if venice does say...200mhz better than your winchesters thatll put you right around 2.9ghz for a moderatly high chip... sure there will be monsters above 3, but id say 2.9 will be reasonalbe... you still wont have the extra cache that sledgehammers have, and your ram still wont be running at tight timings. also, i thought you found that your tccd wont do above 280 or something, or was that someone else?

If doable this is going to be hard. Maybe a few weeks of playing around. I'm getting close to 29k with LOD. The memory really did not help that much in 3dmark2001. Sandra went from about 2900MB/s (90% efficiency) to 3780MB/s (95% efficiency). SuperPi 32M dropped 2 minutes. Memory runs 260x10 2.5-3-3-7-1T but the CPU is still way to hot to be stable. Even at 250x10 I'm pushing 62C. This weekends water will be welcomed :) Running CAS2 locks the system even down to 225Mhz FSB.

I am running more stable at 400/1.1 on the video card. Flashed my bios to default to 400/1.1 1.4v instead of 350/1.0 1.3v :p "Detect optimal" gives me a max of 446/1.19 instead of 420/1.1?. Last minute tests will be run higher than 400/1.1. Whats the best driver/DirectX version for 2000 and a 6800GT? So far in 2k3 in XP I went from 13030 to 13190 with a CPU score of 1111.

yeah man i know the feeling, i was stuck at ~28.8 for so long was pissing me off, i got the last 1200 points with just software and memory tweaks, just takes ALOT of time, keep screwin around with it youll get it eventually

That memory rocks. I'm just not as familiar with its limitations as I was with the old memory. I had the Mushkin PC3500 memory for a good 18 months. Also it auto detects horrible settings. It wants to run like 3-4-4-8 2t by default. I'm not sure why. Especially since its rated 2.5-3-3-7-1t @ 250. It was only barely unstable at 280 2.5-3-3-7-1t the breif time I tested that. If I barely break 29k I'll be fine. It will only piss me off if I get to like 29990 and can't get any more :p

Usually it just results in a MASSIVE ammount of artifacts (even in 2d).
The only thing that can be good from adjusting timings would be to set them to a higher latency and be able to overclock your memory a little further :p

No, not true at all.

I spent a few hours with the X800 and found the best timings.

well I probably wont break 30k at 2.9GHz(322x9) but theres always a next time, cpus keep improving, even their Venice line will as amd gets out new ones and maybe if diego drops some when dual core becomes mainstream, ill grab a 4000+ diego with the best stepping for perhaps $300 a while from now and get me my 30k :D as for ram timing, I dont care, my extra ram MHz will make up for it. 273x11 or 300x10 is probably the same, the 300fsb being with tccd.

Why dont you just grab a nice vid card and shoot for upper 30k... with your benching skills im sure you could grab the #1 non phase change score in the world.

I already am top of the orb, actually first place in the world for all air cooling for some of my gpus including this 9500 at 23.8k I am like 6th on the orb, the 5 guys all above me arent air cooled. When I go Venice I hope to be 2nd or even first in the world with a 9500 and ill do that all aircooled as well :D upper 30k? were talking $500 for a gpu and $950 for a fx57, sorry im not that rich :p
