Fisher is a liar, he said that the Titans organization would punish him regardless of what the NFL did, that means - now read carefully - that the Titans would punish him no matter what the NFL did, so in addition.

He didn't hold up his word, he deserves whatever comes his way - I'm tired of coaches and teams protecting criminals.... yeah he deserves something really, really bad for being a POS, you don't like it? too bad, thats my opinion... 5 games is nothing, football is JUST A GAME, this guy could spend up to 6 years in prison in some states for that and everyone brushes it aside because it happened in a football game.

I suppose an on the field homicide would warrant a 7 game suspension.

I said that about his family because it worse than if it happened to him, I'd rather the guy live in agony.... seriously, look at the Titans, now you know why they have the crappy team they do! their record speaks for itself. Nice coaching there Fisher.... you Coach like you hold your word.

not only that but why does he need to wait for the NFL to hand down punishment? did the guy do wrong? then punish the guy why wait for someone else to tell you it's ok? the guy is pathetic, terrible head coach "oh lets see what they do first, then we will decide if it's bad enough to punish him some more".... you do or you don't, the guy coaches like a politician runs a campaign, next he will use exit polling to see how he should write up next weeks game plan.

The guy definitely should have been suspended for the season and lose the rest of his salary. He also should have criminal charges brought against him. On espn I saw that during a practice they had on camera a few years ago, he kicked an offensive lineman in the chest after a play. So this isn't the first time he did something.

Find a link that has that in it, because I don't recall ever hearing it. I remember him saying that if the punishment wasn't bad enough, he would add on, not that he would add on no matter what.

Except when it is your entire career and missing out on about a third of the season means you're losing MILLIONS of dollars.

You say it like the guy is a normal person who's going to miss 1/3rd of work. Sure he's going to lose money, but it's not like he's scraping to get by. He'll just have to wait a little longer to buy his next 7 series bmw. That kick is bs he should be gone for the season.

Like Charles Barkley said once, sure they make a lot of money, but they spend a lot of money, too. A bigger paycheck means a bigger house payment, car payment, etc. He's not making millions of bucks a year anymore. Losing a third of his income could mean not being able to pay his likely sizeable debt.

I'm not trying to say he's barely making ends meet or anything, but just because he makes more money than the average person doesn't mean he just has wads of cash laying around and can afford to have a third of his income just disappear. Rich people get houses, cars, etc. repossessed all the time if they happen to have a sudden change in income. Chances are Haynesworth had a financial planner that just crapped his pants.

Also, I think people that say it's "just a game" have no freaking idea what these people go through. Working out for hours each day carrying around their equipment. Watching and studying film all the time. Getting bruises, sprains, etc. and just having to wrap it up and go back out there to get beat on by 300 pound linemen. If you lose or gain too much weight you get cut. If you take a day off from working out you get fined. If your freaking 40 time drops by a tenth of a second you end up losing out on heaps of money on your next contract.

I have known a few people that have been/are on NFL rosters and they all said that any desk job would be easier any day of the week.

Looks like the Titans are looking to recoup about $323,529 of his signing bonus now. If it goes through, that's over half a million bucks he's out.

he said it at some conference, it was played on ESPN/NFL Network etc, he said the titans would be punishing him regardless - not if the NFL did punish him, by deductive reasoning (which seems to be lacking here) he would punish the guy no matter what the NFL did - i.e the nfl does nothing, he gets punished, the nfl does something, he gets punished - the nfl's action would have no bearing on what the titans did. Only it did.

1/3 of this guys salary may be a killer for him, chances are if he is irresponsible like this at work he is irresponsible like that with every other aspect of his life and his finances are probably pretty horrendous.

Nobody knows how long a player will last. He might make millions one season and when everything is said and done not have much at all left because a lot things can happen in a NFL game and/or outside of the game. He might not even last a year. As for incident the penalty would have been worse if he had a history or a previous incident before this, which I don't know if he did. You can look at Romo or even Rodman and see he received a harsher penalty because he had previous incidents.

good point you two, he definitely earned his punishment. I wanna see what happens when he comes back.

looks like they may punish him afterall and FOXsports reports that the Titans want part of his bonus back.... now something is being done, see the NFL doing something is one thing, but when your own team punishes you NOW IT HITS HOME... otherwise the team is perceived as accepting of the behavior if they don't step in and do something as well.

EXACTLY. A third of your income is pretty risky. Perfect example - Corey Simon has developed Polyarthritis, and since it is a non-football illness, he may not get any of the rest of his money this year. Bam, he's out 2.2 Million.

no, no I don't. Immediately after this happened Fisher said they would punish him, then said the NFL did enough - which is why I called him not a man of his word, now that they appear to be reversing course yet again it seems as if they may redeem themselves... I would feel like an idiot if they punished him and I said they didn't...

Personally I think a 5 game suspension is too light. He should be gone for at least 1 full season which would mean he'd miss the first 4 games of next year as well.

I hate the bye week. :( especially after getting destroyed by the Bears last weekend, I'm dying to see how the team responds.

Let this be a lesson to all: if your star running back is injured, you still have to at least try to establish the run.

I really hope they pummel St. Louis next Sunday for this, time for the Hawks to regain some clout.
