That video is awesome.
Portal 2
6/10
+Very funny
-Where's waldo the video game
-Way too long
So I just did not like this game at all. It was very funny but man the gameplay was so lame. Sequels are not for me anymore I guess.
Gonna jump into Twisted Metal now, never played one before and hoping I like it.
I still have my original black label PS1 copy.
A few years ago I found a SEALED copy of the PC version at a Half Price Books for ~$40. Fortunately, it was during one of their coupon weeks and I was able to grab it for ~$20 with a 50% off coupon. One of very few pure collector's game purchases I've made; I've gone overboard on a CE or two in my day, sure, but the only games I've picked up a second copy for pure collector reasons have been Dragon Force (~$7.50 a few years ago with one of the rare disc arts) and that copy of FF7.
Mass Effect 3.
Epic game. If you are bought into the ME universe, it's a must. The game is disturbing at points, some of the choices that you are forced to makes are bad choices regardless of what you do. Without spoilers, the ethics of certain choices leave you shaking your head and wondering if there isn't some way to get past without causing death and destruction.
The much maligned ending is... weird, but I wouldn't say it's bad. The combat is good, really good at some points. AI is much improved over ME2. Cerberus WILL flank and will set turrets to good use. Interesting that the Geth have a less robust AI, showing the inferiority of the machines to organics.
It was a great game that I will play through at least one more time.
Found a complete copy of the Dreamcast version of Street Fighter III Third Strike, in good condition, for sale at a local used video game store for $12.
I'm not a HUGE fighting game fan, but it's worth it adding to the ol' Dreamcast collection, and it seems like a very entry in the series. :)
Finished Torchlight as a Destroyer on VH. I played it when it first came out, but for whatever reason, I never finished it. Good game, but I don't think I like it enough to keep farming for gear or increase rep to max.
Just beat Borderlands last night!! That final boss was tough! Took a bit to figure out the weaknesses... awesome game!! 9/10
Now when D3 comes in today, that's what I'm playing next!@!!! :D
I haven't played through a game entirely in probably well over a year. Recently, though, I've been getting some pc gaming in. I played through Braid a couple weeks ago. Definitely different and a lot of fun. I'd give it a 8.5/10.
Last week, I finally played through Portal. And now I'm almost done with Portal 2. I really like the "test" levels. Sometimes I don't have the patience for the "escape" type levels where it's not as obvious where you are trying to go. It's never that bad, but I prefer the tests where there is a clearly marked objective. I like the added mechanics in Portal 2; I think they did a good job adding mechanics from other science experiments without breaking the feel of the strictly portal & block based mechanics. I also like how they used the improved graphics to make the place look more wrecked. They improved the atmosphere and made it more interesting without compromising the original's clean feel. Also, it's hilarious. Right now I'd probably give Portal a 7.5/10 and Portal 2 a 9/10. I do think my Portal score would be higher, though, if I played it earlier. I had already heard and understood the mechanic and it's hard to live up to years of hype.
Not sure what I'll play next. I have quite a few indie titles from various humble bundles which I bought as mostly charity donations with little intent to play. Might pick one of those. I never got into Diablo, so it won't be D3 for me.
Finally finished the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, which should mean I have more time to play a bunch of games, but of course now I'm playing D3 so everything else has fallen by the wayside.
That said, I can only play that on my desktop so all the other times of day when I'm in the living room on my laptop I'll still be playing other stuff. Still getting in a little bit of FF7 time but I've really been having a lot of fun with Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space from a recent indie bundle. It's everything I hoped it would be after all those years of putting off buying it.
Beat Diablo 3 yesterday. Awesome. The only complaint I have about it is there are only 3 cut-scenes. One of the major plot twists wasn't even a real cut-scene. Pretty lazy on the devs part.
Dang... how many hours did you put in, Snake?
After playing as a monk, I want to try wizard. :D
God of War Origins. Just wanted to finish it since it was on my shelf for quite a while. Lack of enemy type in both games, real lack of fatalities and I'm pretty sick of the spawn closet development style. I'll probably move on to Ico/SotC HD next. Beat them both on PS2 but excited to see SotC with a more stable framerate.
Also chipping away slowly at Diablo 3.
I've been sort of all over the map with games lately.
"Finished" (?) Europa Universalis III , at least the game I was playing.
Currently on a racing tear, playing the heck out of Forza 4 and Gran Turismo 5. I find Forza 4 the far more robust and enjoyable experience, but I'm opening up to GT 5 (and trying to get my $40 worth).
Also working through about 12-15 hours worth of Deus Ex Human Revolution. Really enjoying it, and really starting to get into the story.
And finally, rounding out my "online" gaming, ArmA II (and Arrowhead) with my brother when we can. And Star Wars The Old Republic. My FIRST MMORPG experience, outside of a trial of Galaxies years back. We'll see how it does.
Beat Batman Arkham City.
Wow, such a great game IMHO. It really outshines the original in every way except for side quests. They seemed a little tacked on a but hit or miss. I would have loved to see them release DLC in the form of side missions. Talk about your missed opportunities.
I beat Lord of the Rings War in the North last night. I'm starting over at the next difficulty. Had fun with the game and it is complete fan service for LOTR gurus. Combat was enjoyable and cutscenes were great. I only paid $9.99 for it new and was worth it at that price. I will say it was more enjoyable then Dungeon Siege 3 I completed last year.
Beat Psychonauts and enjoyed it thoroughly. Is there a way to go back to the camp to get everything you missed at the end? I could see myself completing 100% of it is that is the case.
Next up is likely Batman: AA, but Deus Ex is a tempting second choice for clearing out my backlog.
Beat Deus Ex Human Revolution the other night.
Really enjoyed it. Not quite up to the first game's level, but when you're talking about one of the Top 5 games in PC gaming history, that's not exactly a bad thing. ;)
Anyway, it was thoroughly engrossing all the way through. Yes, the graphics are VERY dated looking, and even on the second hardest difficulty I never really needed to update my "praxis" or whatever past the first 10 hours or so, so a tad easy in that regard.
But great story, great voice acting, great script, and solid gameplay made it one of the best games I've played in awhile.
My Personal Score: 9.0 out of 10
---
I'm currently "between" big games so to speak. Not sure what I'm going to start next. I've been playing a lot of Forza 4 lately, mostly just hot lapping different cars.
Also still playing ArmA II and Operation Arrowhead online with my brother when we get a chance. Always fun.
And finally, playing around with Dragon Quest Hand of the Heavenly Bride on DS. Not quite sure if I want to commit to it yet. So far its good, if very predictable, but I guess that's what you get with DQ games.
Last Beat: Batman Arkham Asylum. I finished the main story at 69% in 11 hours. I spent another two getting all but two of the Riddler's quests. I haven't done any of the challenges and stuff yet and not sure if I will.
Next Up: Either Arkham City or Deus Ex: HR. Batman seems very likely after the first one being so awesome.
Finished zombie apocalypse coop. Laughed my butt off, fun mindless game. About to start resistance 3 coop tomorrow night.
I beat Diablo 3 on normal a few nights ago. I snagged Driver San Fran for 7.50 on steam and will probably play that next. I've been wanting to play it, but couldn't spend 50 dollars on a DRM laden game from Ubisoft. I feel much better paying under 10. I've heard it is a pretty cool game.
