nForce3 boards lock the AGP, but not the PCI. (Assuming you don't have any PCI cards, ) this can be easily remedied by purchasing a 66mhz PCI ATA controller card.

How is purchasing a PCI controller resolve the PCI lock issue?

You do know there are ALOT more devices outside the IDE that run off the PCI bus? :D

So when that goes to far out of spec, they wont work properly...

The other stuff can handle it. HDD's certainly can't.

A 66mhz PCI ATA controller is rated to run 66mhz, which would require the FSB to be at 400mhz... So 66 is all we'll be needing for a while. ;)

Please explain to me, if the board still wouldn't function properly at such high FSB's, why has Macci gotten 350 on his A64? ;) You're not ALWAYS right. :p

First IIRC there are NO!! I REPEAT NO!!! A64 board that offers PCI 66.. Just because your controller can handle that speed... Doesnt mean if you run it slower (33Mhz) it can handle the difference..

Any informed person would know that... I guess you are not as informed as you think you are!

It is RATED to run 66mhz.

I simply cannot understand why are you still defending this point. People are running these as we speak, with no problems. Why must you challenge everything I say?:confused:

i'm thinking that colossus doesn't see what xduck is saying here... he's not saying that because you use a 66mhz controller the controller runs at 66mhz, he's saying that the controller can run at up to 66mhz so you would have to more than double your FSB to take that out of spec, thus saving hard drive corruption.

if amd gets owned by intel, they can always push out faster cpus and add more cache :)

You can't really say one company is beating another. AFAIK, both companies have the ability to push out 10GHz CPUs if they want to. It's just that their biggest concern is the CPU cooling and its cost, so there really isn't a competition... But video cards... I don't know about that
