May I ask why you've decided to join the marines? I would never join the military! I'd even move to Germany if they ever started the draft! I for one am not getting killed in Afghanistan (or anywhere
else in the middle east)!
Feels good to be a protector, a feeling the protected (YOU) will never have.
Good luck Squirrel, stand tall, be proud, and remember this,
"All I feel when I kill the enemy, is the recoil of my weapon" ; )
well first off, i was in martial arts for 6 years of my young life and i went to a private school with a man who has been teaching it for about 25 years and he also taught some combat training to military personel. now this guy was hella tough on us. even in the kids class(13 and under), all the kids had a 6 or 8 pack stomach and was hella tough. if we got bad grades he would punish us by making the whole class work out and we were all a team so if one of us messed up we all "messed up." he was the most respectable man i have ever known. I love discipline as odd as it sounds. it makes myself proud and i enjoy having a good self esteem. being disciplined, looking good, getting buff, eating healthy.....whats not too like and feel good about? now during my junior year i wanted to future proof myself in a sense. i wanted a job getting out of school and money for education. the marine corps provided me a job with free medical, free dental, a house, college money, and a chance to get out of my town and go somewhere else. and hell, its only 4 years of my life. that is why i joined.Quote:

and one thing some of you may not understand, when you join the military you dont automaticly become an infantry unit. you take the asfab test and you pick a job you want. if you dont have infantry, guess what? your not the one getting shot at. *gasp* :D
i choose to do infantry because they keep in peak shape and i get to do the kinda stuff i loved about my martial arts school. i want to become a grunt and i will be damn good at it. it looks like all my time spent playing quake 3 will finally pay off, lol!
Everyone I know who went off to war either became disabled (lost limbs or an eye) or tried to kill themselves because it was so hard! This not only scares me, but the facts I've mentioned before make fighting now seem unethical! Oh, and don't count on being able to choose your job during a war! They choose for you!
I just hope you make it out fine! Good luck and may god be with you!

Well thats a real intelligent post to someone who is leaving in a few days:rolleyes: Lets be honest... exactly how old are you...how many wars have you lived through? I'm 40, have lived during the Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the present war and all the conflicts in between. Lived in DC, San Diego, and Ohio and don't know anyone with the circumstances your describing. Sure it is dangerous but sheez-louise.
Yeah maybe that's true for the civil war & world war 1, but lol, not in today's world. Please stop talking out of your ***- you're ruining this thread :rolleyes:Quote:

As far as a draft is concerned HAH.Yup Id rather leave then have to feel what its probably like to get an AK-47 bullet go through me.

If you're scared of the terrorists, then they've already beaten you, you let them, wuss. They havnt beaten me, I'm not scared of them. I say bring it on, the more they try the faster we'll get them. Be brave young man, don't let them beat you.
I went to war and I have both of my eyes, all my limbs, and I think I am sane :DQuote:

Sorry to see you leave man. Have fun.
you have to be the biggest *** on this forum. it dosent mean what the art stands for but its the fact that the discipline and the hard work and the respect and honor i got from the MARTIAL ARTS encouraged me to continue with all that good stuff. i dont care if kung-fu means to chop off heads, it dosent matter. and my private school was a mix of 5 different arts by the way. i got a lot of experience in hand to hand combat, i am a extemely good kicker, i have experience grappling, star throwing, weapons training, street training, and training for the body and mind.Quote:

The Military is tough, especially for people in the infantry units. I'm sure you'll have times when your going to dislike the experience, but remember: The hardships you face will only strengthen you. You've voluntarily chosen a path not often traveled, that is very admirable.
My friend has left for the Marine Corps as well. His name is Seth Tarrants, so if you see by any chance him give me a hollar :).
Still does (or at least quite a few in the administration do), and quite considerably beyond that as well.Quote:

And whether you like or approve of it or not, many of you could still easily get drafted into the "endless war" (as the administration calls it). Here's a link about the current draft legislation: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquer...:@@@L&summ2=m&
Remember, the White House has warned us many times now that this war will likely not end "in our lifetimes"!
best of luck to you, bro. people like you are special. :)
ever heard of thai boxing? :D

as for King George the Bush and his war on terror  what a load of crap but this isn't the place.
