im building a completly new setup. including a new rig, speakers, monitor, keyboard, and mouse the moment doom3 goes gold. my computer right now is like the little engine that could, it can still run todays games at a decent frame rate, granted you dont mind sacrificing some details at 1024x768.

Nice thing about the swap is that my daughter will get old machine and we can game together!

I've already upgraded. Radeon 9700 comes in on Monday! YEAH! Although, I'm not really sure I'm even going to get Doom III. Oh well, all the better for UT2004. :D
I will wait for the test from ID and see what I need to upgrade after I have played with the test for a couple of days.
Heard some conspiracy theory today. A load of junk I'm almost certain. Somebody tried to tell me that DooMIII is actually very close to being ready to ship, according to some 'Underground Sources.' ID was tired of people badgering them for release dates and so people were told a release date of months after the time the game would actually be released. The game would then be released with a minimum of fuss, allowing ID some peace and quiet.
Well, it'd be good but not gonna happen in my mind.
I am now also looking closely at weather to switch to an Intel System, as AMD is falling further and further behind. The question will be at the time just how good an AMD system's price VS performance will be compared to that of an Intel System. At the moment I'm still hoping to stay with AMD as the proc price will surely be lower. But if the adequate performance ain't there then........?

UH Huh. Got me there.
So I'm looking at the opposition and what they have to offer. If I go down that road, I shall indeed be a pilgrim in an unholy land. My pockets will be empty and I shall need to beg to stay alive, my money taken by Intel. I pray daily at the AMD shrine in the hopes that I am able to remain faithful. The devil is powerful.
