Hehe, oops! Missed a lot of the discussion. But then again, you may not like some of the anime I watch :)

Some of my favorites (no particular order):

Cowboy Bebop
Neia Under 7 (my avatar is from this show)

His and Her Circumstances
Sakura Diaries
Neon Genesis
Nadesico (in the middle of rewatching now)
GTO

I like some of the more mainstream movies like Ghost in the Shell and Princess Mononoke. I have Grave of the Fireflies, just haven't had the time to sit down and watch it. And of course, RoboTech and Akira hold a special place in my heart.

i dont think the spear of longinus was explained, nor what exactly the angels were. it's been a looooong time since i've seen the movies. i dont own them, just the series :(

i think they intentionally left a bit of it up for interpretation.
i think it does go more in depth on how shinji's mom died. this ties in with rei.
as far as the sea scrolls go, i've never read the dead sea scrolls ;)
but if you're not familiar with religion, they're scripture that was never wrote in the bible and i think was just found within this century. i guess i'll ask my friend who's a religion major. maybe he might know a little something LOL!

Hehe, nah I'm married. :)

GTO aka Great Teacher Onizuka, is a great show. Very, very funny and well done. Basically, it's about the adventures of this tough, cocky biker-guy in his 20s who decides to teach high school just to pick up the teenage girls. LOL

It's not for everyone but both my husband and I thoroughly enjoy it.

Just watched both movies, much still not answered. I thought the movies were made because the series ended so bizzarely and the movies were supposed to clear things up. They didn't really, in fact I found End of Evangelion almost as incomprehensible as the series ending itself. here are some of my initial questions that weren't addressed:

1. All we find out about the 2nd impact is that men caused it by boiling adam down to embryo form which now resides in gendo ikaris hand??? Why was that neccesary, why did it become part of his hand?

2. Still have no idea what Rei is. was she ever really alive? was the Rei that dr. aoki(spelling) choked the first human Rei? Did that Dr. kill herself after this or was she pushed over the edge?

3. still don't know exactly how shinjis mom died. How did Yui Ikari become part of EVA 01?

4. What exactly was seele, a secret group making decisions for all of society? why did they want this 3rd impact, why were they so eager for humans to all die and be reborn as a unified creature?

5. Was Gendo ikaris motives different from seele, what was he trying to do by going against seeles wishes? What was he trying to do with Rei before Rei merged with lillith?


And to a large extent anything that happened after Rei merged with Lillith makes almost no sense. More of that psychological 'in the mind of shinji' stuff. Id love to hear some theories about what people think that meant, because it was pretty incoherent I thought.

for the most part, rei was a clone of shinji's mom...
i cant really remember most of the movies lol! i just remember in the end asuka and shinji were supposed to represent adam and eve starting the world anew or something...

btw daisy, i'll have to check out gto :D i love comic animes. i recall the first one i ever saw was ranma. my stomach hurt for a while from laughing so hard :D

actually im starting to watch the audio commentaries from the movie and its explaining alot. there is really alot of stuff going on under the surface of this series, it's pretty remarkable. The more I think about the series and particularly the movie End of, the more im realizing how brilliantly done it was. sublime!
