You people are overexaggerating the noise of the GeForce FX. Is the Radeon 9700 Pro louder than a screaming delta fan? No.
The noise was measured in very close proximity to the fan, likewise I would expect the measured noise to be greater than 100 decibels if a screaming delta fan were measured with the same method Anandtech did to obtain noise ratings on those video cards.
77db vs 64db is quite a bit. Isnt it every 2db is twice as loud?

Noise increase doubles per 8 decibels since it's logarithmicly proportional.
There is a big difference, true, but if you compare a 50 decibel delta fan and a 64 decibel ATi Radeon 9700 Pro fan, you'll shouldn't be holding your breath expecting the ATi R9700 Pro's fan to be louder.

10^7.7/10^6.4 = 19.952623149688796013524553967395
The GeForce FX is nearly 20X louder than the R9700Pro.

No, the base is 10 not 8. It doubles every 10 dB. See my previous post.

Sorry, I am wrong. It is 10 decibels to increase the noise by a factor of two.
I do know log is base 10, you do not need to assume that I am ignorant :).

You seem to contradict yourself . Noise delta is 13 decibels between the GeForce FX and Radeon 9700 Pro. This would mean that the GF FX is over 2 times louder than the Radeon 9700 Pro, but not quite 3 times as loud.
*edit*
I just want the people to realize how ridiculous they sound when they go on saying how noisy the GeForce FX is at 77 decibels, then ignore (I have seen no one but myself mention this) that the Radeon 9700 Pro is at an ear shattering 64 decibels. If you've played with any of these cards (I'll exclude the GF FX for obvious reasons), the Radeon 9700 Pro is certainly not more noisy than a Delta EHE at around 50-ish decibels.
The reason Anandtech got very high relative decibel numbers is because the test was measured within very close proximity to the fans. This means you can not compare to the rating of a case fan at 50 decibels to a Radeon 9700 Pro fan at 64 decibels.

I never heared but i will quote TomHardware :
'''The Cooler, Continued
A further problem is the noise level. The fan produces an incredible racket on par with a vacuum cleaner - there's simply no other way to describe it. You can hear the card even if you're in another room of the house. '''
Anand also say that FX @ idle is more noisyer than 9700 fan @ max load so i just figured .
If they exagerate , well i exagerated also .

Yea, sorry, I meant to say that it increases by a factor of 10, not doubles.

Then are you saying the Radeon 9700 Pro is more noisey than a Delta high output fan at more than 50 decibels? If that is so then I think it's rather silly to be ragging on noise as a problem when both of the cards are so noisy. I know for a fact the Radeon 9700 Pro is not more noisey than an ear shattering delta 80mm pushing 80cfm.
You can not compare Anandtech's noise results to noise data on a case fan. My post's purpose was for people to realize this, and I get chewed out for it? Awesome :).

I never see somebody so obstinate like you in my life , even if you see that is the milk is withe but you say before that is black you will just hold on your black version , you are realy something m8 , try to convince yourself before you try to convince others .
