I've been reading the forums here daily since Aug 2001, but only post when i feel that I can bring something meaningful to the discussion. I guess that's why I'm still under 1000 posts! (Cheap shot :D)
It seems like the things go in cycles around here. Someone will have a post in just about every thread on the page, then go into hiding after while.
Favorite hardware: my 21" trinitron! w00t!
Without a doubt my External Sportster 14.4 US Robotics Fax/Modem. I had a 386 at the time and I just couldnt' get enough of playing Doom1&2 Deathmatch with my friends (of course you could only play against one person at a time) and I didn't get the internet for sometime so I used to for BBSing. I still have that sucker as a keepsake.
When I have kids I'll pass it down to my oldest son. Tell him to pass it on to his son. haha
I would have to say my favorite piece of hardware was my first Voodo card, the Diamond Multimedia 'Monster' with 4k ram. Games took on a whole new meaning.
Can't forget about Duckman, FaTs and mrwhite! And as some have already said, Arcadian's posts were always a good read.
My favorite pieces of hardware...gotta be the networking aspect of it all which allows these fast connections to the internet!
EDIT: Almost forgot Mandorallen of Molynnr...so many memories:p
I haven't seen Wurm around much either. I still see FaTs's posts sparingly. People come and go, but the atmosphere always stays the same.
not really my favorite piece of hardware. I got a voodoo rush and it was the first time I experience hardware 3D acceleration. It was like losing virginity. first time is wow but the rest after is better but not as awesome as first experience .. ...Quote:

my favourite all time would have to be my 3dfx voodoo 1. i remember how my jaw dropped when i saw the difference between my crappy 2d card and the voodoo 1. it was as clear as night and day.
(I paid like $229 at compUSA for my voodoorush and a month later the Voodoo2 came out around the same price @$@$#@%)
I recall going to my friends who had just gotten a monster3d, so I had to one up him, went and got a canopus pure3d lx, mmm quake 2 never looked better.
I guess for me my favorite piece of hardware would be my generic 32MB TNT2. I rememeber I saved up for like 2 months to buy it, and I bought it specifically for HL/TFC/CS.
Time to get posting.Quote:

My Dual 12mb Voodoo2 video cards were about the most ridiculously overpriced pieces of hardware I have ever owned but they were kickass. I bought them new for $300 each...
First, how can you guys talk of "old-school" with those 4 and 5 digit userids? http://members.fortunecity.com/rock5/spit.gif
Second, gotta say may Diamond Monster 4MB. Showing up at a lan party with that thing one day and kicking major butt in Quake was a great day in history. I think the History channel has been trying to call me to do a special about it. http://members.fortunecity.com/rock5/2gunsfiring.gif
