Yo, for the plasma tv:
Aren't you afraid of burn-in?
I heard computer images (like the windows taskbar), that stays there for quite a while is bad for the monitor.
Is that a gateway?
So far, I have experienced no such problem (as a safety precaution, I enabled screensaver to kick in in 5 mins, and If I remember correctly, the TV would turn itself off if it doesn't receive any signal from any input ;) But I haven't seen this at work as I'm always using it :D . I run at 1024x768 at 72hz, don't need any higher as I'm happy with the IQ. (that's why I got a Rad for vid)Quote:

Gateway makes plasma TVs, I think that is what he's referring to.Quote:

Oh! Never heard of that make in my neck of the wood. :o It's a Pioneer 50" plasma (can't remember model number :o ). It's just about the best I could find for IQ and versatility : rca connectors, S-connector, components as well as rgb input;) . It runs everything in 16 : 9 format, movies and games NEVER EVER look any better!!! :DQuote:

Plasma's do suffer from burn in. I would be careful using the computer (still images) on such an expensive screen.
that is an awesome setup. I'd say that screen alone makes it the best system I have seen on sharky forums.
Copy that! i'm always careful with it, never leaving on one image for extended periods. ;) It cost a bomb so I gotta be careful with it! :DQuote:

Maybe, but only because none are as gungho (or plain stupid!:p ) as me to actually use a plasma (Now you guys have got me worried too!:( )Quote:

Why Pioneer though?
A few month ago I was doing quite a lot of research on Plasmas and found Panasonic to do better in almost all aspects and costs a lot less.
btw, hwo much did you buy it for? $6000US?
awesome wall paper (it's almost as big as the wall!)
I went around looking at the various plasma TVs - Daewoo, Samsung, JVC, Panasonic to name but afew. ;) There were many 42" and 43" models BUT few 50"+ models, Of those that made 50" models at that time, the Pioneer stood out. Amazing picture quality, multi-inputs and the SIZE took my breath away! :D Locally, it cost about USD$8.5k now but when I bought it at that time, it cost about USD$11.5k, yeah, I was really taken :( but I have no regrets. (Prices quoted are local $ converted to USD$). Really, when you go plasma, everything else looks crappy - no flickering or annoying scanning lines to distract you.;) My 31" bedroom CRT TV sux so I hang around the living room for gaming and movie goodness!:DQuote:

Really??? I always found Plasma subpar to my Sony Wega... I dont like the color of plasma.. I prefer tube...
But 11k, god damn!
Nice Plasma!
Be careful about burn-in though. I wouldn't even leave a screensaver on.. it would be shut off if I wasn't using it. Also... watch out for extended periods of gaming huds. Before you get serious burn-in you should notice after imaging though. So just be careful of that 11k TV! Very nice!
BTW: It is an HDTV right? Not just EDTV? Also... do you have any HD programming hooked up to it? ESPN-HD would look great on that.
I've got a 48" Sony Wega rear projection TV too (in the family room)! ;) :D The picture's great but, imho, it's not equal to the plasma!:DQuote:

Good advice dude, I'm gonna set it to shut off if it's idle for, say, 5 mins. :) Don't wanna take the risk of burn-in.;) :) I think it's HDTV ready whatever that means (Marketing gimmick methinks:( )Quote:
