Sharky's own community game server?

I'd chip in like $5 a month...

alright, now this is going somewhere

i was checking out jolt.co.uk (who are extremely overpriced) but we could possibly do a 3 - 5 game server, so we could run bf1942 (or desert combat, or both) and halo and CS, games like that - i think we could take a vote from the whole community and see what games most people will want to play

yeah uk - their servers are sooo damn fast, it doesnt really matter where you are playing from - but thats why they are soo damn expensive

if the server is in the uk, even tho they may have fast computers, it's gonna lag...

I thought I would point out that Darph Bobo ( a member of this site) owns a hosting company www.barronhosting.com and I noticed on another board that he had offerred to host a gaming server (for a price ofcourse) but he is worth contacting. He is a good guy and would likely want to help out.

I'd chip in a buck or two a month for a sharky forums only server, especially if it was running RTCW:ET. They only have like 30 dedicated servers, which are all always full.

He's right. Back in the days of TFC, I used to run rampant on BlueYonder servers, and they were often faster than servers on the East Coast.

UK and US servers are pretty much the same speed, usually in favor of the UK.

this may be true but I know my first hop is west to chicago so then Id be hopping back east to NY THEN across to the uk....more hops=more chances for things to go wrong

i see what you mean, but we are not going to use them to host unless we can put together 150 pounds (which is a crazy price) per month

i looking into canadian companies to see if they will sponsor a server or perhaps give us a discount

perhaps others can do the same?

ideally we would want to run a 3 game server, since one game will not accomodate the majority of sharky....keep that in mind

edit: i may be able to get a DoD or CS server up by the end of the week, i will keep you guys posted
