being deaf is merely a transitory state of the music not being loud enough.Quote:

You guys think you're all big and bad with your 5.1/6.1/7.1 systems...but I saw in the latest stereophile mag they have a surround sound system with 40 B&W loudspeakers!
Imagine such a system for the pc...you would have speakers basically all around you, and in a small room you would have to place the speakers right next to each other. Doesn't make for much of a soundstage:p .
I think Creative should make a system like this and call it the Teraworks but I doubt it would sell due to the high price tag.
Nice nice. Reminds me of my setup when I was a kid. Now I got no space here in this god forsaken dorm room. Cherish your time kid!!!
Perhaps it's time to rediscover the wonders of high-quality stereo or 2.1. I bet you'd be smitten with a nice pair of Swanns, Megaworks 2.1, or Altec Lansing 621. If you aren't watching DVD's, even something like the Altec Lansing ATP-3 would treat you well. Unfortunately, DVD's require a lot of audio juice.Quote:

Hmm, yeah you are gonna hate me, but I had some Bose cubes for my highs (I dunno, I thought they sounded really good [just the highs] at the time, and they were pretty cheap too). The Bose sub is kinda weak so I got a 12" Velodyne. All driven by a Onkyo reciever Amp. Hmm, that was like 5 years ago, god I am getting old.
yeah I pretty much just listen to music lately with all teh studying I have. Heh, actually thinking of selling the slow fatass ide drives so I won't waste my time downloading and watching movies. :pQuote:

I dunno, the z560 are pretty good imo considering the price, I mean they are not as good as the typical klipsches but they are a lot cheaper (and they have a lot more base, but I hate that. ridiculous bass is for 13 year olds), the Klipsches are more for purists willing to pay that much. shoot man, I don't even have my rears hooked up w/ the z560s atm.
Lol. Actually, I still live at home. (much cheaper);)Quote:

Velodyne makes wicked subs for the price. Too bad they're so expensive up here in Canada.:(
You gotta hook up those rear Z560 sats for games. Especially if you play Call of Duty. The Klipsch Ultra's and Gigaworks are where it's at, but they're soooo pricey right now.
hmm, do you really think boses are that bad, or just riduculously overrated?
I would say, ridiculously overated. Some inexperienced people have been brainwashed by Bose (too much marketing) into thinking they're the next best thing to sliced bread. They're pretty good if you want a VERY SMALL speaker that has decent sound. But, you can get alot more performance for your money, if you're not too picky about looks/asthetics.Quote:

Have you checked out the link in my sig?:)
Yeah, didn't read the whole thing though. I went for the bose because I wanted to get a nice sounding 5 channel setup for a decent price. Also at the time best buy and circuit city were all I knew (hifi buys has some pretty sick stuff, where I got my parent's Mitz from).Quote:
