That would actually be a really good path to take. We're talking about this board as if we need to use its SLi feature from the get go. In reality it would be a great upgrade path for gamers. Instead of dropping serious cash on a new vid card just get a second and enable SLi. It's kinda how that didn't really cross my ind before. There is one problem with this option, and that is what if you can't find another identical 6600GT?? I'm curious as to whether it will work across brands of the same spec cards.

On one hand that sounds good. On the other hand, the cards (better/cheaper) that will be available at that future time have to be considered. Not sure how that would pan out, though.....

i'm actually thinking of maybe watiting and getting FX57/6900U, but i don't know if i'll make it :p

From what I hear the retail pci-express card is the 6900U anyway.

I wasn't planning on upgrading anytime soon, but my web company just got 3 aggregate service agreements thrown at us in the past week. Hooray! No more day job and a new beastly system to look forward too!!!

Needless to say my plan is now one of these bad boys and a couple 6900U cards. Just thinking about it makes me have to check my pants. :p

According to Anand, 2 6600GT's perform about the same as a single 6800GT. Granted this is with beta drivers and hardware, but it seems that SLI will benefit high end gear a lot more than mid-range stuff. Good to see it's on the way though, we can always use new technology (and money pits).

Gee, maybe I never noticed, but I thought the 6600GT would have been closer to the 6800GT. A bit aside, but this kinda makes me rethink my potential 6600GT purchase.
