Is this true?

To me, the benefits of Windows Update far outweigh the hassles I've endured so far. I don't think I've encountered this new Piracy check yet, but if it is anything like product activation, I would think it would be a breeze.

Honestly, piracy is bad and I don't understand why anyone would want to pirate their Operating System when it is such a critical part of the foundation of your system. It is just not worth the trouble, I would think. If there is one thing I want working the right way, it would be the OS, cause everything else depends on it. I still have a choice to install or not to install components, and given that, I'm still a big Windows Update supporter.

Well the forums dont really need me to flame bait the threads :) We all know what freddy's view on pirated software. His moto is "If its not pirated, its just not real software!" :P :P (remove "software" and insert "music" "mp3" "movies" "dvd" "etc" :P)

But I will try to come around to stir the pot up a bit, as I have some freetime now. I dont even feel like playing EQ2 and my hours logged in according to xfire will be shot now :(

Guess it depends on the woman. I never got to that point, but i have had to slim down the computer time when my wifes home. Which if fine for me, since I like sex too. :D

Maybe if the computer was an escape and what I was doing on it was work related, then maybe i would pick the computer. And trade the wife for a younger model. :p

Remember when Windows Update said "No information is being sent to Microsoft at this time"? Sending a CDkey is one thing, scanning my computer for files and retrieving information is a violation of my privacy. I'd like to know at what lengths this update goes to "curb piracy".

AFAIK you just have to change a setting in your IE (i think it is in tools-->internet options --> programs)

It sucks though, because i used windows update for driver downloads as well sometimes. Now i can't do that..
