I'm thinking of donating on small amount on a regular basis... ;)
Donated! I hope more sharks get in the giving mood. :D
mikeysg: FYI...the ana link in yoru sig is broken.
The total has gone up in the last hr, so people are donating. Just checked a minute ago.
Wow I guess I'm still a member here, even though it says I haven't posted since 1969!
Hey I just wanted to stop in personnally and say thank you for everything your doing to help.
The sites doing wonders as a therapy for me. As Joe mentioned I'm self employeed and I am for a couple of reasons... I'm doing it to be around my children more and another big reason is I really hate doing the same thing over and over. So more importantly than being "self employeed" I know plenty of people who are self employeed and are rather well off... I'm a lifestyle entrepreneur I work enough to keep me busy and cover my share of the household needs. Since I'm not out busting myself backwords to make more money I'm able to be the dance dad, basketball dad and the dad who brings his girls to violin and starting soon Piano lesssions. I guess growing up as the oldest of 8 children I wanted to be able to do more for my children.
I'll stop there not to get all sappy on ya.
Anyways I'm in the process of getting new things added to the site this weekend... Perhaps some adsense so long as we're careful not to upset the big G it should be a good source of ad space for the advertisers and goal of making a couple extra dollars. Which means in the next day or so I'll have to ad a bunch of content.
Donated again for the 2nd time... :)
Current total is $3400... come on... let's keep it going!
i just donated.
i thought of something. everyone here is probably the member of at least one other forum. why not add the OneAna.com link to our sigs on other forums as well? it can't hurt!
Already done on my part! ;) Great idea to promote again though... :)Quote:

Just managed to contact my nephew again, and made another donation. Wish Pete and his family all the best. I do also wish Ana a speedy and full recovery, and to hang tough thru those chemo therapy sessions. :)
I've added the 'Save Ana' link into my sig in another forum already. In fact, I was the one who had informed them of Pete's plight, I do see a mod or two, in that forum, who've included it in their sig as well.
Thanks you guys. Man, Sharky really came through big on this. You'd think all the forums would've responded similarly to one another but..................nope.
I understand that if an american can't afford medical coverage he would be covered anyway. I seen that on CNN, but are you saying if you ain't got no money in america you don't get medical treatment?
edit: I guess I'm assuming this is happening in america, wouldn't be an issue in canada .
Your assumption is not correct. The US does not have socialized medicine, per se.
There is a charity program run by the US government in partnership with each state government called Medicaid. It is available for the poverty stricken who have very limited assets. The US government also run a program for people who are over age 65 called Medicare. It is not free and is just about as expensive as other health insurance.
So.... if a young girl has NO money she gets NO chemo? I've never heard that happening in america. What I'm trying to say is there is a difference in getting a young girl chemo and saving an adult from medical bankruptcy.
Parents are financially responsible for their children. The government will not help until the parents' income and asset levels falls below a certain point defined by each program. For example Medicaid rules are different in each state.
There are laws requiring publicly funded hospitals to provide indigent emergency care. Those laws do not apply to non-emergency care.
There are many organizations that help the needy, medical or otherwise.
There are many individuals who help the needy, medical or otherwise.
Sharky Forums members comprise one such group of individuals helping Ana.
