I seriously do not understand why the Wings, coming in at #1 to the playoffs (which doesn't mean everything), are constantly and consistantly being picked to lose. This isn't the team from the last 2 years.....I can't wait for Friday. :D

But is it the same team from 3 months ago?Quote:

Detroit shows up to play the last-place Flyers and gets stomped 6-1. Philly dominated physically and totally pushed the Wings around. Die hard fans from every team noticed; the talk from then on was that Philly showed the league how to beat Detroit. Too bad Ron Wilson wasn't watching.
Oh come on....we all have bad days. You might as well reference the 1-0 shutout in the last Detroit-Anaheim game when Detroit won for the flip side of the argument. Yeah, that was an ugly game, but crap like that happens to anyone sooner or later.Quote:

I'd think the series against the bigger, tougher Sharks would have spoken for itself.
here's another pic i made:

I hope it happens.
Personally, I think it was indicative of the Sharks lack of play moreson than Detroits dominance.Quote:

With either Pronger or Niedermyer being on the ice pretty much the entire game, I think that their production will plummet.
And where Selanne and McDonald are Anaheims best players, I think Anaheim has much better depth behind those two should they get shut down.
I didn't think much of Anaheim's forwards at the beginning of the season, but guys like Getzlaf, Kunitz, Penner, and Perry provide excellent depth. In hockey it matters a lot more than just who's on your first line.
I don't think that Detroit has the horses to match Anaheim... but we will see.

I don't completely agree with that. If Wilson takes the C away from Patty then he's going to get traded. There is nothing more demoralizing then being demoted from team captain. It happened to Owen Nolan and also to Joe Thornton.Quote:

I'm pissed that the sharks have managed to blow series in the second round the last 2 years running. They have the talent/size/speed but they're afraid to take us there.
I call Detriot/Ottowa for the cup this year. Should be a good series.
I never saw him as the captain-type though. I almost feel as if he was given the 'C' because there was no one else to give it to.
I think it's more my frustration with the Sharks than with Marleau in particular.
Great game in Detroit tonight, both teams looked pretty fired up! This should be a great series from the looks of game 1.
I still think the wings were lucky.;)
I completely agree with you there. I love my sharks, I really do but they blow when it comes to consistent 3 period play.Quote:

Also, look who scored the GWG for Detriot tonight, that's right Holmstrom. He gave Detroit the momentum in game 4 to steal that game from the sharks, and potentially the series, now he's doing the same in this series.
I think that Detroits reign of terror this season will be over this series.
I didn't see the game, but it sounded like Anaheim dominated in 5 vs 5 play. All Detroits goals came on special teams... two powerplay and one shorthanded. This can be corrected easier by Anaheim I think. All of Anaheim's goals came on even strength situations... if they start clicking on the powerplay... Detroit is done.
All this and the series now goes back to Anaheim with the Ducks having already earned a split in Detroit.
And in the first game, both of Detroit's goals sound like they were scored after having went off Anaheim's sticks...
Methinks that Detroit is in over their heads here...
I can't believe how big Anaheim is up front. Some of their best forwards are huge; that has to be difficult playing aginst them. Getzlaf /Perry/ Penner are you kidding me? These are bigger than the Duck's d-men, aside from Pronger of course. I am really impressed with Getzlaf, and it's good to see that the classic 'north american power forward' lives on.
In todays fast paced game, I think that there still is a place for the power forward.Quote:

How do you control a physical speciman if you can no longer clutch and grab?
Seems to me that the power forward will be just as valuable as ever... as long as they can still skate decently as well.
The fact that Anaheim managed a split in Detriot means nothing. The sharks did the same thing and dominated both games in 5 on 5 play. It really doesn't mean anything. If Detriot can split in Anaheim then they have a 70% chance of winning the series in my opinion.Quote:

I'm thinking Detroit vs. Ottawa for the cup and Ottawa winning in 6.
