Hey man you can't go wrong witht the 1.6a thats what I have and mine is running at 2.512ghz at 1.65 volts on stock cooling. I can take this chip to the max fsb this board allows which is 166fsb which puts me at 2.655ghz with 1.75 volts (have to wire wrap the cpu to the voltage that high). I cant stay at 166 fsb because with stock cooling my temps go all the way up to 62c under load. So I am waiting for a better cooler to come in. Good luck

Actually memory upgrades is much easier with rdram as you can go and buy any memory sticks and they will work with older rimms well. With DDR-sdram you should use identical memory modules if planning use more than just one stick, with two different brand memory modules system won't necessary be stable. It's very well known DDR-problem and is even dokumented in viaarena support page as very high possibility to make infinite loop.

Actually memory upgrading is only easy with memory types that are well specified and well tested, with memories like DDR-sdram mixing differend kind of memory modules usually makes just very unstable platform.

And I really can't understand what's the problem to get two memory modules instead one, can't be too hard to count two when getting new memory :D

dammit! I had my 1.6 at 2448 Mhz with 1.7 volts. Thats 153 FSB. Everything ran stable. Prime95 fine, benchmark, fine... But when I went to play CS and Serious Sam 2 they would both crash after about an hour. I'm actually wondering if it's a windows problem and not OC related. But I don't have nuff OCing exp to know :(. I'm pretty lazy with windows too, not caring about keeping it clean besides defragging.

But I have got my 3dMark score here. 10324

hell, i didn't even think of that. who gives a damn? buy a pair or buy one? i want the best performance...and RDRAM prices have gone down to a reasonable price IMO.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Hmm, most DDR RAM motherboards have 3 slots so you have 3 chances to upgrade, but RDRAM has effectively 2 slots (because you have to install in pairs) so you only have 2 chances to upgrade before throwing away old memory modules.

sorry man...i either am too stupid or i really don't see how big of an advantage this is....

maybe some others do...but i'm outta this argument about DDR RAM being better coz it has an easier upgrade path. LOL.....that is..... *shh.....not gonna say anything bad*:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

As I mentioned before, with DDR-sdram you usually have to throw your old memory away any time you upgrade memory, and 3 DDR-sdram slots work only if two memory modules are single-sided, and usually every dimm is double-sided.

I know that RDRAM is better, but the way you guys make it sound you act like it smokes DDR. As you can tell from my Mem benches...and yours...it's very meinal diffrence bewtween the two(about 200MB/s:rolleyes: And remeber what I told you, my Ram is still at agreesive timings, I can relax back on them some and push it even further and possibly get back in teh range of 100Mb/s, which RDRAM is still faster..but again It's so menail it's not gonna be seen in a real world application.

The arguement that RDRAM is better because you cn use two firrent brands is kind of stupid, I mean I personally would never mix brans of RAM, wheter it be SDRAM, DDR, or RDRAM. plus DDR is a more flexible platform, I mean knowing that you dont HAVE to buy 2 sticks is a good thing. Cuz no mater what with RDRAM curretnly you HAVE to buy 2 sticks no matter what.

my score was better than urs by a 200mb/s score....but ur RAM was overclocked to the max....my RDRAM was only overclocked to 900 MHz.

Ok so 300Mb/s. AGAIN I can't seem to stress this enough to you:rolleyes:..... I am at agressive settings, I still have more headroom. SO again if my ram was maxed, it wouldp probably be 100Mb/s. Yes, Yes, Yes I know you'll say that I don't have it right now, and I don't but like I told you three other times, wait til I get my other stuff, and OC this to teh MAX. yes u got that right. u do not have that.

i can go on forever. "hey if i get water cooling i can overclock to 2.7 GHz. and smoke ur score"

that is not the way it goes around. i'm sure anyone would agree with me. so till the time comes ...i think 300 mb/s advantage is something to be sniffed at :):rolleyes:

i am relaxed dude. i respect u coz u have a good amount of knowledge. i just don't like it when someone doesn't want to admit a fact. u were hinting that DDR RAM is better....why? coz upgrading is easier....now that isn't a solid point here.

RDRAM overclocks better.
RDRAM is faster. (even with whatever latencies they talk about)

and i have proved that with my benchmarks...i'm not just talking **** :)

I think I've proved that a DDR setup can beat an RDram setup at pc-1066 speeds.

I think that RDram is great but DDR is also a solid competitor.

In the competition in 3Dmark between myself, KJY9, butcherbeard, mysitfmagic and some others.

check my sig. I currently have the highest 3D mark on SF. (for now anyway heh heh)

however when actual pc-1066 comes out that can overclock to pc-1200 then you will see me switching to i850e:cool:
