I just upgraded and am hoping it will run on my new system, P4 2.4 and RADEON 9500Pro. Even if I can keep it going in 1024 I will be happy.

I recently upgraded to the P4 3.0 hyperthreading and 800Mhz FSB, and well, you can see the specs in my signature....I'm hoping that will be ok...if not, kudos to ID and others for making an unplayable game ;) cant wait
Umm..I sorta jumped the gun here:o . I bought both my systems, see my sig, with D3 in mind. Hope my rigs are up to the rigors of d3:) . HL2 will be a great bonus as I was not aware that it will be released this year when I was putting my rigs together:D ;) .
I am planning to upgrade my computer anyway. I am not just upgrading for Doom 3. I would upgrade it for HL2 though!
I'm confident that the minimun requirements won't be that painful. The guys at ID know their job. Nevertheless I'm very curious about them. Anyone has some news about this?
Nope! Zip! Nada!;) I just hope that the video settings is fully scaleable, like HL2 where the min spec, supposedly, is a DX6 TNT vid card ;) . Then just 'bout everyone can join in the fun!:D :DQuote:

I'm pretty sure I'll get a better/faster CPU, and some better RAM.
I think a 1800+ and a R9500 will run it nicely.
My system a 9700 (OC'd) and a 2100+ @ 2200 Mhz.
Like I said, I sorta jumped the gun on this:o . Still, I'm somewhat optimistic that my rigs would be able to run both games with eye candy, aa and af on (but not at max), plus details set to hi/highest, I hope *clasps hands, kneels down and stares at the heavens*.:) (Hey, don't burst my bubble, alright? Let me live in this 'perfect' world of mine - at least till HL2 comes out, then, I'll see if an upgrade is in order;) :D )Quote:

i dont really think doom 3 will require such a high end pc to play it atleast at a playable level, ofcourse one will have to sacrifice detail settings and such.. i dont plan to upgrade for the next 3 to 4 years, i should be okay with a 9800 pro..im scared to upgrade ever again since when i did my major upgrade my alienware got stolen :(
Im getting a 9700 np or pro card next and hope to play at 1024x769x32 with mid detail at 2xAA & AF at most. For the people that say the game will not run well on a 9700 then the game will be a sales flop.
In Canada a old Ti4600 is still over $350 and that card has been around forever so a 9700 still not be cheap 7 months from now.
Current Canadian card prices
the game has to run almost great with a 9700 pro.. the game will not sell if the game cant be played ATLEAST with a geforce 3... i dont think carmack is that dumb to create a game that can only be for high end users, considering thats a very small amount.
Well i've played that shitty game " Enter The Matrix " and i couldn't play it on 1028x768 ... too slow,.
My system is:
Athlon XP 1800+
GigaByte K7 Triton 400 Mobo
256 DDR Ram.
Sapphire 9700 NP.
...
It's a new game and slow as hell. ( or is it my pc that's too slow for the new games )
What happened? Please tell us what happened to the Alienware 51:eek: .Quote:

My nephew runs that game in hi detail @ 1024x768 with no choppiness, so something's amiss here. His specs are : AMD 2600+ (T'bred at stock), GF4 Ti4200 @ stock and 2x256mb of PC2100 ram. Looking at this, it's possible that your cpu is not up for the chellenge or, more likely, your ram is insufficient. Your 9700NP is a damn sight better than his Ti4200. So it boils down to ram or cpu. Can't be driver related as I played the game with Cat 3.4 with no problem. Just speculating here, in all likeliness, I may be wrong:(Quote:

Just bought the system in my sig. How do you think it'll fair? lol (dumb question).

my area 51 was upstairs by the living room, and theres a huge window that faces outside and i guess you could see the computer and everything from outside, and just one day i came home and my area 51, my logitech z680s my flat screen were gone. i spent ALOT of money on that system then i had to invest in ADT security system because i dont want that to happen again.. my new computer stays in the basement.
Ouch! That must have hurt big time. Sorry to hear 'bout this, it WAS one sweet rig.:( Coincidentally, I have an ADT security system too;) , now I feel more secure whenever I leave home.:)Quote:

I've already upgraded, P4 2.8C plus Radeon 9800 Non-pro. I'm not to worried. :)
Precisely :) Doom 3 looks graphically amazing but that doesn't always translate into great gameplay. HL2, however, should be worth it if not just to play with the physics engine they have. I have not been dissapointed by anything from valve. ID, I feel, has gone downhill since quake 1. I didn't like quake 2 and didn't play it and quake 3 was basically quake 1 with nice graphics. Hopefully they can return the emphasis to gameplay and not just pretty pictures with Doom 3 but who knows.Quote:

Damn straight! :) HL2 really looks good, but the only 'physics' engine I'm interested in is Alyx!:p Her 'physics' is of great interest to me:p Wonder if there's a patch or a cheat like the one for Dawn demo:p :D I gotta stop falling for these high polygon count cyberbabe!:( And yeah, I know, I gotta get me a life.:o :)Quote:

My system barly meets the minimun requirements for UT2K3 :(. I'm planning on upgrading my rig around christmas and if not that then a few months after pci express comes into use.
I never upgrade anything just for a game, but when my pc gets too old to play games that are slightly less than cureent......
Upgrading can always be done in baby steps if budget's a constraint.;) Don't know what's in your rig but instant gratification starts with a new vid card, what about a Ti4200 128mb card?:DQuote:

It's hard to do baby steps when you mobo is obsolete though.. like going from a socket 423 1.7GHz to like a 2.8cQuote:

Too true! ;) I went from a pos XP2000+ palomimo to the 2800+ Barton and boy, did THAT make a difference.:D Still if one HAS to upgrade, one should look at one's own rig, decide if one can live with some bottle-necking when, say, one changes the gfx card. Then when there's enough $$ upgrade the mobo and cpu then the ram and so forth.:) Recently, my nephew went for a massive upgrade, burnt a hole in his pocket;) , he upped from an Atlon 1.2ghz to the XP2600 T'bred, got the same mobo as me (no prizes for guessing who's influenced him:p ) and bought the FX5200 128mb card. I smacked him on the back of his head and swapped the FX5200 for a Ti4200 128mb;) , now he's one happy gamer!:D I DID advise him to change his gfx card 1st, then the cpu and mobo would follow suit, but he wanted a massive upgrade. He's still using PC2100 ram, which would slow him down, but gaming on his rig is excellent!:DQuote:

P.S. I believe he's HL2 and D3 ready, but he can't expect to get hi res with eye candy on (max detail and aa/af) Heck, I'm not even sure my rigs can do that, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Sorry for rezzing a slightly old topic but...I had to let this out:p
Well I'm planning on doing a massive upgrade...but I want to wait till PCi express and the new processors come out...this wait is killing me because I am scraping whatever $$ I have and I'm not happy w/ current gaming performance...but it's hard for me to earn money so i don't want to upgrade anything. I got $391 in cold, flimsy cash sitting here and another $200 I'm supposed to get for working 20 hours...:D
Edit: BTW Milo my mobo supports up to a 2 ghz processor....so HA!:p
