Building a PC by yourself is not a bother. It is a bonding experience. I'm sure plenty of people with money share the same view. *If* all of my investments turn out the way they do on paper I'd still build my own. Just with better parts :)Quote:

I would rather save my money and get hre 540r with some pilots so i could could get more *** in the summer time then i would on a cpu that will be **** in a few months anyways.
Paying $1000 for a cpu with at most a 15% performance gain on a good day , is the height of Stupidty. The P4EE is a repacked Xeon chip, which is still beaten by the equiv AMD chip which is also a lot cheaper!!!
They want you to pay a premium for something that is outclassed even before its released!!

THIS IS BASICALLY A SECOND PAPER LAUNCH. Where is the EE, it has been a few days and I still don't see them at retail. God they make me sick, this is just an effort to keep interest alive while they struggle over the next few weeks to get a tiny shipment out.
Intel cannot sell this thing. It will kill them. The monopoly costs and opportunity costs are way too high. There is no reason to sell this for $1000 when they could sell it as a Xeon for $2500. Not to mention that the feds may have an issue with a monopoly selling a product at about a 50x profit ratio - not even MS could get away with that.

A cant realy say that the EE is bad at all even when compared to tha A64. Expensive Yes.
It depends waht you will use it for...
The EE is faster in most cases like Video Encoding stuff.
The A64 is faster in most cases where most of us use PC's for...Office Work and Games.
Umm, yeah. How long will it take to get that thing. Dell will often advertise products well before they actually have them on hand. I am still waiting for them to 'build' five top of the line laptops. I put the order in almost two months ago, the holdup - "sorry, we the parts have not yet become available". My questionw was, "so why the hell are you selling them". Response, "because we can, and people will wait as long as they have to".Quote:

Only thing good about this cpu is that maybe intel will release a presscott ee one day. 1meg l2 cache 2meg l3 cache now that could be a good chip. And then a few months later i will pick one up for 200 bucks :D
