The Nvidia 6800 is quite a bit more powerful (it has 12 pipes and 256bit memory, X700 has 8 pipelines and 128bit memory) X700, the mobility X700 is clocked lower than the desktop version although the 6800 has worse batterylife as a result.

What is a good brand/config of RAM to go along with the 9300/6800? I am on the verge of buying one with the 256 mb of RAM, which I will then replace with a gig from newegg. Is it better to get 2x 512, or 1x 1024 mb? Also, what is the most reliable brand?
Over at Notebookforums, there are quite a few people unhappy with the Dell's 17" screen and prefer the Gateway M680's screen. You can now get the Gateway with a Go6800 so there shouldn't be any different performance-wise. Of course with a coupon and all for the Dell, it's going to be cheaper than a comparable Gateway.Quote:

I've done the same with my XPS 2, it still claims it's running dual channel (apparently non-interleaved mode) but I've not noticed any performance loss in benchmarks that didn't use more than the 512MB ram.
