Yeah, sorry, I meant, the more you continuously pay. Not literally logged on, but, while your account is active. So, the only way to catch up to that guy who has played since the beginning is for him to stop paying for awhile. How can you ever expect to beat him? Is there a cap somewhere? Or does it even out somehow?

I decided to give the game a try since I was able to sucker a friend into joining me (and company is nice when 90% of the time you're watching the Autopilot warp you around everywhere), but jesus, I don't believe there aren't any missions you can group on. Yeah, you can form a 'gang' but we dont have the same objectives and grouping is really one-sided for agent missions in EVE. That is, unless i'm completely missing something.

Sadly? I'm pretty happy myself. I'm not sure how UO was, but being griefed and ganked isn't something I like spending my time doing when I work most of the time. PvP? PvE.

I know on EVE I playing the 14 day trail. If I had stayed with it I would of been with a good corp that all started playing together and had allies who where pretty powerful (a bunch of the core SFC3 guys who where still around). From what I followed before I quite there was some huge battles that where involving 100's of players at one time. The main allies super power was being over thown. From what I seen of it that it is not that hard to get into a good group. Just have to know what forums to go looking for. www.battleclinic.com has a pretty good eve board set up and I know if you post there asking for help they will direct you to a good location and who to go to. Heck they will even be willing to help you out.

EQ2 looks like an army of crazy plastic surgeons attacked a normal MMO and turned everything into Michael Jackson.

Is there a 'best race' or 'best profession'/'best initial attribution distribution' in EVE? Sure people might argue that it depends what you want to do, but, for example the "Undead" race in WoW was hands down the best horde race due to its racials, is there some analogous comparison for the races in EVE?

The worst thing to happen in groups is when half your group realises their from the same country and starts speaking in their own language. Then refusing to even talk with the english speakers.

I haven't had that happen yet, lol. Last night some friggin mage ninja'd a chest I had just cleared the mobs around, so I followed him around getting first hits in just before he would aoe mobs :p he then said something in some other language to me to which I responded with "/rude".

Lol last night I ran scholo for kicks and a mage ninja'd two blues. The last blue she ninja'd was a badass AQ ring with high nature resist. She sucked hardcore throughout the whole instance also, so I asked if she ebayed her character. She actually said yes. Then she started typing all this crazy chinese ****. I quickly booted her *** out of the group. First time I've had a chinese farmer/ebayer mess up a pug.

I was going to suggest EQ2, but your first post pointed out that you didnt like it. The game can be a hit or a miss in terms of liking it, but if you dont meet fun people and join a fun guild.. It can be quite boring.

Guild Wars I heard is quite fun and it doesnt have monthly fees.

Maybe http://www.knightonlineworld.com/ Its free. But its mainly for PvP.

you've been lucky to not have someone mess up a PUG that badly until now. I've got a buddy who ran BRD for the first time the other day and as soon as the loot dropped the group leader changed it to Master Looter, grabbed everything, linked it, and then hearthed back. I've actually only had a few PUGs where something didn't get ninjad. I was pissed when I ran SM as the MT and basically kept everyone alive, and at the end a shield and amulet both dropped that I could've used, I passed on them at first like we had all discussed beforehand, and our warrior that I took over MT from cause he sucked stole the shield, and the priest that kept running around and drawing more mobs into the fights stole the ammy. Needless to say, I put them both on my ignore after than and made an announcement in IF about them....one of the warrior's guildies was in the group with us told me that he'd get him booted out of the guild for it, and the priest's GM whispered me and told me they booted them out of their guild. So justice does occur at times.

I haven't had that experience yet. I mean I am playing in a US server afterall, I would expect people to speak english, as they would expect it from me ;)

Don't get me wrong, I have had items ninja'd. I just havent seen a chinese farmer in action that I knew about. I've been pretty lucky with my groups post 60. Since Blackrock is an older server most of the idiots have been weeded out. For the most part the server has a good population. I usually run with guildies now, but like I said I just ran PuG for kicks. Will stick to guildies from now on.

And yeah, I like raiding dungeons 200000x times. The same way people like rolling new characters all the time (WoW), grinding for AAs (Everquest), or playing the same old tired gaming **** that is UO.

Exactly. Just like there are only so many ways to fire a gun, yet new and exciting FPSs keep coming out. Every MMO is the same, just the grind is different.

Question...someone...answer.

The companies just realized a while ago that hard MMORPG don't sell nearly as well as really easy ones. Every MMORPG since EQ/UO has been easier than the one before it. I suppose EVE would be an exception, but their subscriber base is relatively small. What took 1 year in EQ takes 1 month in WoW. The easier you make it for people to play and reach the "end" and feel like they actually did something special, the more subscribers you get. More subscribers = more dollars.

I wonder if WoW will ever hit 10 million. I figure they are probably at around 7 now, and around 1m+ accounts are probably inactive because they hit 60 and got bored, but will come back with the expansion. That would seriously be crazy. I think it can happen. Think about it. $150,000,000 a MONTH in revenue. At years end Blizzard would be doing $2 BILLION dollars in business a year.

I agree with you on the easiness of WoW, which is why it can only hold my attention for so long before I get tired of it. I'm hoping Vanguard will bring more in the ways of older MMOs while still retaining some of the traits of newer ones. But it'll be hard to tell until the game is actually released and people delve into it. Just by the screenshots though, it's got the same ugly art direction that EQ2 has.

Yeah Im hoping Vanguard will bring something fresh to the table. I've been trying out the trials from DDO and Eve, I want a new game now. Wow is finally starting to wear down after over a year of playing.

EVE seems to be pretty cool, although HUGE at first. I found it weird that they don't explain any of the careers or races very well before having to make decisions. Plus the set in stone learning times is a pretty unimaginative way of creating a huge time sink between good players and noobs. I already had plenty of money for a new ship, but I wont be able to use it for a few days because I have to train stuff.

As for DDO, I thought it was awful. I only played it for about 2 hours before uninstalling. The world was bland and it reminded me of EQ2 too much. Seemed like a very small game also. Yuck.

Heres to hoping Vanguard is good!

Heh, I was going to do the trial of DDO but the massive download is prohibiting me from doing it. Twice now I've been in the middle of the thing and my comp restarts (not sure why it keeps restarting, but I'm looking into it). The download link I was getting it from also doesn't support resuming... maybe if I find one that is fast and lets me resume than I'll try it out.
