My son just bought this today. The music is pretty cool...that's all I hear dim the other room while I am watching football. He is sneaking everywhere lol.

The soundtrack is phenomenal. I actually like popping the disc in and letting it sit at the main menu for awhile just to listen to the music. Sneaking is the way to go... on this playthrough anyway. Second time around I'm going to play on hardest setting and throw down with my guns.
Icarus landing system w/ stun is awesome :D
quick review
it is a 7/10, steam says i played 77hrs & unlocked 30 achivements
sneaked & hacked my a55 off. also fatal takedowns were my fav
in addition hacking turrets & robot sentrys was as in the old deus ex,
sweet. still like the old one better. this was nice tho.
Nope, ME & ME2 (and Jade Empire) musics were by Jack Wall, DEHR's is by Michael A McCann (who did Splinter Cell Double Agent, while Jack Wall did Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow).
I'm about halfway through (I think) so far I like it a lot. It's not a Deus Ex clone but it's as close as Bioshock was to System Shock 2 so it's good enough for me.
This gives me real good hope for Thief 4 since it's developed by the same studio. Those guys have proven to me that they can adapt an older game to today's standard while keeping it's core intact.
I'm almost done with the game (95%, yes I looked :( ) and there are some more augs that have definitely been beneficial:
- Dermal Armor, after it's fully buffed you can withstand two grenades back-to-back. Unlike DX1 it's always on :D
- Anti-Concussion eye aug (again, whatever it's called) is exceptionally handy later on. Often the bad guys carry them and especially the later boss battles.
- Hacking: Capture, if you happen to like hacking. Modifying turrets and robots is soooooo handy later on.
- Inventory Increases. Duh.
- Stealth Enhancer: Vision Cones. Seriously useful, makes sneaking around a ton easier. I wish the other DXs had this.
Augs that have been pretty useless:
- Hacking: Fortify. I instead buffed Hacking: Stealth so I can get closer to the target(s). I used fortify once or twice but it wasn't worth it.
- Cloaking: good to throw off enemies that are gunning at you but it's just way too expensive on power to be any use. 7 seconds per energy cell at best?? Jesus.
- Stealth Enhancer: Sound Gauge. If you're sneaking around you're already walking or crouching. Wish this thing wasn't the mandatory step before Vision Cones.
- Aim Stabilizer. This game is extremely dependent on cover, I rarely if ever run-and-gun'd it.
Augs that have been pretty "meh":
- Smart Vision. Helped out with sneaking a bit but Stealth Enhancer: Vision Cones helped a lot more. If it made you see cloaked enemies and had longer range it would be immensely better.
- Punch Through Walls: gave me some extra goodies and alternate ways around stuff but it didn't make or break anything. Sometimes not worth the energy spent.
Some I'd like to try in my next playthrough:
- Anti-EMP
- Typhoon System
- Landing system
- Reflex Booster
I'd have to partially agree and partially disagree with that.
Like SS2-to-Bioshock:
- Took the same stuff from the progenitor and simply copy/pasted it (very cleanly)
- Some of said stuff was re-done and vastly improved (ex. hacking, augmentations, conversations)
Not like SS2-to-Bioshock:
- It's more complex than the first one. Bioshock was a dumbed-down System Shock 2; If DX:HR was DX1, DX was DX2 and DX:IW was DX3 (i.e. the games were released in chronological order of the games' timeline), DX:HR would be the most complex and thickest out of them. I missed a LOT of stuff on this playthrough comparable to when I first played DX1 and I took my sweet time playing this game.

anyone have some quick tips for hacking? i kind of get it but dont
I maxed it out as well as Stealth, makes for a very secure approach. Maybe it's not necessary but as a control freak I like having both to master Hacking.
Helps a lot to get the ghost & al experience bonuses.Quote:

I'm using Reflex booster and Landing system and having a blast.Quote:

Reflex booster helps a lot with my current approach (max stealth, no killing), and landing is both a cool effect and a useful exploring tool (combined with Jump and the ability to break through wall you can pretty much go anywhere).
I haven't tried the stunning effect of the Landing system though (it seem quite noticeable and not quite fitting with my "ghosting")
I agree, I meant the similarity more in terms of mood than actual game play.Quote:

Oh definitely, you're on the spot with that assessment.Quote:

Now that I know how to properly handle the boss battles I'll be a bit more prepared. Some were just #@!$$#^%#^@ >:[

im doing a no kill stealth run so my main weapons or the stun gun and tranq rifle... ive been selling everything else... whats the best weapon to keep for boss fights? comabt rifle?
also does the laser sight have no effect when using the iron sights?
Anybody playing on PC with a gamepad? How is it?
Just wondering how "console-ized" the game is.
Don't worry about hanging on to big guns only for boss fights, every single one has either guns in the same room you fight them in or right before you start the cut scene.
Though if I had to pick one the Heavy Rifle has been particularly helpful.
Dunno, I've never used iron sights after I got the laser pointer.Quote:

I upgraded cloaking once and it has helped get me out of some jams when I had no other option. The sound gauge is kind of lame. The only thing I've noticed it projects is a circle from your triangle symbolizing your position on that map that expands and shrinks in diameter based on the noise you are making. On that note I wish the map was a little bigger sometimes I have trouble telling which direction people are looking even with the cones enabled. Dermal armor is next on the list :D!
I used remote det pack for the first boss fight (the only lethal weapon I had in my inventory) and a souped up combat rifle for the second and third. I used the tranq rifle for the last one.
I found enough upgrades to max out the combat rifle and the 10mm pistol since the "no kill" guns aren't compatible with the majority of them.
No idea, sorry.Quote:

You'll be fine with a combat rifle, the crossbow is excellent too. I've done my pacifist run already on 'Give Me Deus Ex'. I wouldn't recommend the heavy rifle, I didn't have enough inventory space on it as I decided to prioritise my stealth skillset on the second way through.
i have a well upgraded 10mm pistol and combat rifle for my no kill stealth run and ive maxed out the following augs: hacking stealth, lvl5, icarus landing, high jump, punch walls, lift heavy.. so i have been able to have access to pretty much the whole map by early hengsha. havent touched any of the armor or combat upgrades.
i have a pretty broken way of dealing with multiple baddies... just shoot a silenced 10mm round near one of the baddies and keep doing so while luring him away from the group, then do a takedown when hes alone... rinse and repeat. no need for the reflex booster
also, i have a tendency to explore the whole city hub before i start on the main quest. but i might have to stop doing that because i find that alot of areas are closed off (ie the door is not even openable) until you trigger a main story quest and you do alot of backtracking to find the sidequests
I do something similar. I'll try to find an object I can throw to get their attention and then hide behind the wall until they cross my path and then take them down. However in certain situations where there are groups, or they don't go on patrol/move their position, the PEPS has come in very handy and so has the stun move from the Icarus landing. Reflex booster just makes you feel so badass, especially when you have two fools standing with their backs to you. The game constantly makes you feel LIKE A BOSS.
I just picked this up today on my lunch-break.
So one question, whats keeping me from going all out gung-ho merc my first play through?
Its not my usual first play through play style (stealth assassin is my usual gig), but I have to ask how much do you miss when playing that way?
just finished the game with my stealth no kill run (was almost damn near impossible at some parts like protecting maliks plane)... used a ton of gas grenades on the last level. ending was great
i am probably going to lay through again and do a full out assault run and max out the plasma rifle!
Grrrrr I wish I had of known that the German store copy doesn't have the English language file included. Or I wouldn't have bought it.
I found bigfile_English.000 to download could someone check their install and see if they have that file and if its 833 MB in size?
What the heck is wrong with EIDOS?
Thanks for the quick help * <--- insert digitus medius picture here.
But its OK the file worked and I'm now playing in English.
