We need a vent server for this.
Today:
* Fixed a rather bad memory leak bug in the server (entity position updates accumulated in orphaned player objects)
* Riding carts and boats now works properly when you travel long distances.
* Harvesting crops no longer yields fake seeds
* Removed /home (sorry!)
* Snowballs again!
Don't forget that you can't dig around the spawn area; the blocks just reappear there. You may not be glitching at all depending on how close to that beach you're digging, you may just be overlapping the spawn area. That's my problem with fixing the creeper crater in front of my mine staircase.
NOOOOOO!
Double posting because I'm hardcore.
I take it back, first order of business will not be to find lava for a moat; first order of business will be to throw up a basic wall/fort around the spawn area so we'll have someplace safe to show up to when we die instead of the equivalent of Normandy Beach.
I've had some trouble finding coal on the server so far, strangely enough.
Servers updated and restarted.
Snowball fights then? ;)
The spawn now feature 'The Hut of Despair': a 2x3 enclosed space with 3 tiny windows that don't really give you a good view of anything, and an oven but no flower... MUHAHAHA, MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!
I forgot that you can't dig around spawn areas. Maybe that's what was happening yesterday.

Spiders angry they can't get down and kill me.
After building a stone bunker around my mine entrance, I opened the door to step outside and was immediately assaulted by 4 creepers.
I then replaced all the stone walls with glass, and made a staircase up so it's like a lookout tower. No more running into unforeseen mobs for me.

He just wants a hug!
Yeah, glass may not resist explosions very well, but it's awesome for things like being able to see those damn mobs. I have a plan for a glass bunker as well. I just need to login long enough to enact it. :D
I had a problem with spiders on my roof and then I placed some cacti up there and then I didn't have a problem with spiders on my roof. :D
So yeah...
Sorry if there are any craters near anyones... everything.
Logged in for the first time to truly play this morning and probably had about 20 or so creepers detonate nearby in the course of 20 or so minutes of playtime. Frustrating would be an understatement. lol
In the meantime, I will work on my island fortress of solitude out in the middle of the pond.
Also, will whoever it is that thinks it's cute to light the entire countryside on fire all the time and never put it out please stop it? It looks terrible and its somewhat dangerous to move through.
It wasn't me, but to be fair I think since the "biome" update, trees got more numerous and closer together in the "forest" areas. Used to be that burning tree leaves after getting the wood was a good way of clearing them out, but now burning one tree generally ends up burning the whole forest (I've found an entire burning forest while exploring one map of mine...really creeped me out since it was newly-explored area, but it was due to a lava flow that hit the forest edge). Hopefully auto-decaying leaves will get re-added soon. Skeletons and zombies can hide underneath leaves and don't die during daytime.
On the plus side, I've been harvesting wood super-easily from the burning area every time I walk by. :p
This time it was in a forest area. A lot of the other times it hasn't been and it was done a lot before biomes even existed.
If you're just trying to clear out an area, it is really not very hard to do a controlled burn, or at least clean up the area after you burn it instead of just hitting it with flint and steel and then wandering away. All burning everything does is change it from an area that was hard to move through because of dense leaves to an area that is slightly easier to move through but much more dangerous and a LOT more unsightly.
We all know it was you anyway. ;)
Actually it was me. I didn't mean for the whole thing to go up, but it happened. I'll clear it out and plant some new trees if it means that much to you.
It does look bad, I agree.
EDIT: Some of the burning trees are in the spawn area, so if someone could administrate a lil and clear those before I plant around there... that would be great!
Sure, it could be refined into more controlled lighting, but a forest fire is good for creating large amounts of light, a large landmark, and a little bit of protection very, very quickly when first getting started in an area. :D
Likely it'll all be cleared out as people start to build in that area anyway. :cool:
