We are actually picking up the points again -- we were down to just over 10k a day. Some fell off the face of the earth, like saps.Quote:

come to think of it, does folding take up a large amound of hd space? or any? my plans are to just leave a box in the corner that just folds. i wont have a monitor or keyboard or anything hooked up to it at all so is there any way to have it just start automatically when i boot up the machine? i wont be needing to do that much at all, like i said it will be running 24/7. but just in case the power goes out or something.
edit: also which version should i dl? there are a crap load to choose from. ill have winxp on the rig and just want it real easy to set up and start crunching.
you can just put a shortcut in your startup folder....that would make it launch every time its turned on assuming you have it automatically boot into that user account which i would assume you would...then i dont know but im pretty sure for a pc you have to have a keyboard plugged in for some bios for the system too even boot...so i would say you might want a keyboard just on top of the box or something thats how i have my server setup at my place....
and im folding! i put folding@home in my startup folder and it starts up with windows so i think im all set. i set my connection to what ie uses but im not sure if i should set the port and what not cause it says it needs a certain port. i just wanna make sure it can send the work when it needs to.
also, im not on the sharky list yet......mabey i need to let it finish a workload before it puts me on there?
Yup, you need to finish a WU to show up.Quote:

holy crap, even my main rig takes a while to finish a frame. how the hell do you guys have so many wu done? it estimates a month to finish my first wu on my folding rig and 3 1/2 on my main rig (although my main rig is working on one that has 5000 frames and my folding rig is working on one that is 1700 frames). So its gonna take a month before I even get on the roster? Damn that sucks. Well Ill get there soon!
edit: never mind, my main rig is flying through the frames now lol. It should be done tommorow. Kinda funny how much faster this dual core is over a 1.13 xp proc haha.
question for you people...i have a few boxes running FAH and i think some of them are not sending in their work units or im not getting credit for them. because i did the math for all the boxes i have running it and it doesnt add up to the number being displayed...and i know how they do not have them up as soon as they are done, but mine dont show up even after the time the should show up.. you guys have any thouhgts?
Look at the FAHlog-Prev.txt and FAHlog.txt in each of your folding instances.
You should be able to determine if each WU was sent and the notation that it was credited to you. Also check and make sure that your username and team are correct for each folding instance.
You may just be getting some really big units that take a long time to finish. Looks like your production is rising HERE.
yeah i know thats how i have been judging it however i have 5 or six boxes and when i look at my FAHlog.txt it says it has completed but i dont get a Prev log it just tacks on to the FAHlog...im also split across PPP linux SMP and and just a few regular windows ones. but it still doesnt seem like it counting them all right... then on my PPP one it couldnt connect to the server it kept saying attempted connect to 0.0.0.0...no idea whats causing that either...
I can't help with Linux folding, all mine are on Windows. When I have a particularly tough issue, I post over HERE and they will get you fixed up fast.
cool beans, thanks...its just really weird...
Nice work mikead_99! :D
How can I use a GPU to fold? Can the card be plugged in and programmed to fold independently of the CPU?
