Yeah, I read that after I posted. I guess I'll try the two console thing today.Quote:

freedon got it and figured it was you
ace727861986 before you do anything ask the person in charge of the lab and likely have him ask his higher up. If you can only run the client for 5-6 hours before its uninstalled that's not enough time to complete 95% of the WU's. If you get permission and the OK, ask that they consider letting you share their computer for semi-permanent folding. In reality the client can run 24/7 without it effected the performance of the machine at all.
Daywalker refer to the FAQ and the MaxPC link. You must AFAIK you the console for HT folding
BTW anyone notice vertices production kinda stopped or at least slowed massively. I wonder if there was a Power Outage so something whereever his rigs are and now that he's on his honeymoon he cannot re-start his stuff? Oh well team's doing decent with him being at full-power ATM.
could someone explain why this portein has 500000 steps? p801_p53dimer801? I know nothing about F@H so dont laugh. Is this a large wu to process or small or what? How long should it normally take? BTW i might like this so i might actually build me a farm if my parents dont get all pissed off about how much electricity its going to use :/.
That's what I thought regarding 56K. And I did read the FAQ thread to properly set it up. The only thing is that you'll see me as "Sandro885" because "Sandro" was already taken up. Oh well.Quote:
No, I`m on 56K and did you check out the FAQ`s thread below to see how to set it up and also don`t forget to use the user name you use here.
I assume you read the log file and saw you were at 0 of 500000. 500000 is what we call a 500. If you hover your mouse of the red icon next to your clock it will show you at 0/500 or wherever you're at currently. That will net you 32 points when you finish it. According to your log file your frame will be 1% or 5000. So 5000/500000. This would be considered a mid-size WU. How long it takes will depend on your cpu. If you got over 1Ghz it'll take less than a day; over 2 Ghz less than 12 hours.Quote:

This takes a while mine has been folding a 400 for a few days then again it hasn't always been on. Once it's done folding this one, will my name appear online?

Yes, it will appear on the team's site.
Yeah once you finish the WU stanford adds you to our page. The 400's are those 71 point Tinker WU's you truly don't want those they will take you over 36 hours even with 3GHz+ P4. What you wanna do is refer to the Folding FAQ sticky below and you must add -advmethods to your shortcut target line. This will enable you to receive Gromacs WU's which leverage SSE. With your cpu and -advmethods so you get Gromacs WU's you will be churning out closer to 100points per 24 hours or roughly twice what you can do with those Tinker WU'sQuote:

Sap, mine won't let me add -advmethods to my desktop shortcut. You mentioned something about the Beta version? I'm not running that, actaully, here is a screenshot for ya:) Maybe I can just download the Beta if the version I have is really holding me back.Quote:

Congrats on the 5K;)
Are you sure if you were able to highlight the target line you should be able to click your cursor there and type. Also rather than a desktop shortcut I'd place the shortcut in the startup folder
Thanks:)
Yeah, I took care of it. I just put it in the startup folder and it's fine;)
XP18004life -- 5K posts -- Congrats :)
i got a 400 overnight and it's up to frame 150 -- how many frames do they go to? 400?
Its fine as in you now have the -advmethods?Quote:

BTW XP remind me if you have Intel or AMD?
BTW to everyone on the latest ExtremeOCing we just passed Hardware Wiz this I consider a major victory. They are the #2 team behind us of the teams #200-1000. After our first week of existence we were already #2 behind them. Thinking small I set a target to match their output. That obviously didn't take long as we are now doubling their production. Well done everyone. Conquer On
If you're getting 400 framers you're getting Tinker WU's which means you're not using SSE and you're really going to be handicapped. Refer to the FAQ on how to solve this issue/problem.Quote:

Sap, my lappy is a 900mhz P3 and my main rig is a 2100+:)
edit: It's not working now. Remind me where my "real" startup folder is because I copied it to the wrong one:mad:
Then you're is still not optimized; cause you got the 3.24 right? Refer to the Folding FAQ on how to solve your problem. Basically you need to go back to stanford and get the beta. You'll like get v4. Then shortcut it and add the flags -advmethods and -forceSSE just for you amd . Place it in the startup folder. Now you will also want to delete any cores that are currently in your Folding@Home folder and reboot. You'll have to quit the client to do all this so if you're too far into a WU wait till it finishes and then do itQuote:

i was already running the SSE and advmethods. the problem is i had accumulated two cores, and i didn't know which one it was using. so during some disk "housecleaning" i deleted both thinking fah would just d/load a new one the next time around. well, it did that, but apparently it didn't keep the flag settings when it engaged the new core and i got stuck with a tinker.Quote:

i just want to know how many frames it goes to, b/c at 6 min per frame, that still leaves 36 hrs left on this one WU. even if i delete it now and lose the work it's done, i'll be ahead when i can reset the command line and start getting gromacs again. i'm assuming it goes to 400, but i just want to make sure. :)
In WinXP click all programs and it should be there right click startup to open the folderQuote:

Yeah its 400 it counts by 1's whereas the 500's count by 5's and the 2500's count by 25's. I'd quit the client and re-delete the 65 core you got. You'll need a re-boot after deleting the 65 core and putting your flags in your beta shortcut again.Quote:

65=Tinker
78=Gromacs
d@mn, this one's a 400 framer -- p692_L939_K12M_int. good-bye.
note to linux users: if you have to delete a core, restart the client with the SSE and advmethods options again, or else the optimization flags won't carry over to the new core and you could end up with tinkers.
---------------
edit: keep getting tinkers/core 65 no matter what - moved to folding problems thread.
I'm on my way :pQuote:

are geromacs bad?
This is what i got

Assembly optimizations on if available.
Entering M.D.
Protein: p811_p53dimer811

Extra 3DNow boost OK.

is that what i should have for an AMD machine? "Extra 3DNow boost OK.
"
no, you want it to say "Extra SSE boost OK." see sap's "Howto" linked in my sig.Quote:

"geromacs" = gromacs, which is what you want. :) just set your flags to get the SSE boost instead of 3DNow.
