Very nice -- OC the the vidcard now and you'll probably be in the 17-18k range in 3dm06. If you hit 18K that would be great. Check out RivaTuner to OC your vidcard -- it has a rather high learning curve but worth the effort. Else, just use nTune. Keep GPU temps around 85 - 90C under max load.Quote:

There's a difference running benchmarks with 2 sticks of memory and everyday use running 4 sticks. Very few people actually need more than 2GB in everyday use; however, some apps like game maps and video editing need more. If you tend to multi-task heavily 4GB will help there too.

So I've been tweaking with these settings, and trying to cap 17k. Just curious, are these optimal for general program use, or should I set them back after getting my highest score?
I usually half the timings/volts when not benching, like when playing games -- no sense in stressing the components like that full time. When not gaming, just surfing, I go back to stock. RivaTuner will allow you to store your various settings in Profiles that you can set based on what you are doing. Most newer BIOSes allow you to store 2 or 3 (some allow for more) Profiles.Quote:

Well, if you want to go higher might as well go the whole nine yards -- ThermalRight Ultra120 Extreme, Tuniq TX-2 Thermal Interface Material (TIM), and the Silverstone 120mm vari-speed fan. You'll have to bump up the North Bridge (NB) voltage a notch or two and bump up PCI-E freq a little as well, but no higher than 110. Find your memory makers recommended max Vdimm and try to lower your memory clocks. If you are using just two sticks of memory try to run at T1 command rate. Keep CPU temp <= 71C (max recommended by Intel) and NB <= 55C. Might consider a better NB cooler, check out the ones from ThermalRight and Swiftech. Max Vcore is 1.5 (Intel recommendation).Quote:

I am confused, my scores seem so much lower then many of you :(
I know my RAM is slowing me down a bit because I have a few mismatched pairs, but it alone can't be keeping me down this much, can it?
With stats like that, I'd expect you to be beating me. What's your FSB set at?

Actually, now that I think about it, does your processor get overheated and end up throttling during the CPU test. Ditto for the GPU? You can run a temp monitoring program (Coretemp, speedfan) on the processor during the test and have it log, if temps get high enough that throttling would happen (TJunction), that could be affecting your scores. I know if I run 3dmark repeatedly, my GPUs get very hot and throttle back as well, dropping my scores by thousands of marks.
no heat issues, no... just retested with updated chipset drivers and got like 40 points more...
temperature for the CPU didn't break 60 on any of the cores, the GPU was right about the same.
Would me running 2 monitors ( 2nd is my TV) hooked up at the same time slow it down possibly?
I'm no expert, but I'd be willing to bet that your GPU having to output to multiple sources could cripple your score. Can you easily disconnect them to check? If not your could probably just set the display mode from your desktop and run 3dmark to see.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I have no experience with Vista scores, but I wouldn't think it'd be an issue. Are your memory modules in the proper slots for dual channel? It looks like it, if the 3dmark display is accurate.
Looking at your scores, your cpu did fine, your proxycon fps test was about 13 fps lower than mine, but your HDR tests were about half of mine for Canyon Flight, and 13 low again for Deep Freeze.
Whatever the Canyon Flight test does is what's bugging your score, I'd say. I got 89 FPS, and you only got 43.
