Reports say that Detroit has traded Roy Williams to Dallas.
I don't get it... I thought that Millen was gone and the boneheaded decisions may stop.Quote:
The Lions will receive first-, third- and sixth-round picks in 2009 in return while also sending over their seventh-round pick, the report said, citing a source. The deal took place moments before the 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.
Williams is AWESOME and is young. The picks that Detroit will be getting back will not be very good ones (later in the rounds most likely).
This looks like an AWFUL trade.
LOLOLOLOL don't believe everything you read I guess. Just YESTERDAY the Lions said this:
That said, from my own personal gain --- ****ING AWESOME. I have Roy on my fantasy team with an actual talented quarterback (even Brad Johnson) throwing to him I should hopefully get some sick numbers out of him for the rest of the year after the BS I've put up with so far.Quote:
Lions interim general manager Martin Mayhew said he has initiated trade discussions with other teams, but did stress that, despite media reports, wide receiver Roy Williams is not on the block. "I've told Roy that we aren't shopping him, and Roy has told me that he wants to be here," he said. "We don't think it would better for our players or our team to make that kind of move." Williams has repeatedly said he wants to stay in Detroit.
That said, with Witten/Owens/Williams I think the Cowboys might have one of the most talented receiving sets ever.
However, as a Detroit fan -- what can I say that hasn't already been said in years past? Detroit will eventually figure it out, and they still have CJ, but without a quarterback and another good receiver, if not a great RB, they won't get any offensive production.
I'm happy for Roy though, since he will be much more appreciated in Dallas.
I know.
But it wasn't coming from some dude's blog... but looks to be being reported all over the internetz. Usually when that happens, it's for realz.
Or Chad Pennington?Quote:

:p
Absolutely.Quote:

He'll be sick in Dallas with TO, Witten, Romo (when he gets back), and Barber.
I know... but I *thought* that the utter brain cramps *might* have ended with Millen getting canned. I guess not. Anybody who had cap space should have picked up Roy Williams for that steal (or even less if they had higher prospective draft picks).Quote:

I feel bad for CJ now. I'd hate to have him on a fantasy team with all the attention that he's sure to get from the defences now.Quote:

I also say today that the 'Skins got Shaun Alexander as a backup RB.
If they signed him for the right price, that's a good deal I think.
I think that he's still a good RB with some good mileage left on his legs.
I think that Seattle's issue with him was his cost combined with his recent injuries (i.e. lack of production for that money).
No no, I meant MYSELF actually.. like rhetorically "don't believe everything you read". That's why I was laughing so much.
Yeah, the Cowboys are getting a steal here. They didn't even need those draft picks to use on an unproven talent since they are strong across the board.Quote:

Yeah, with Kitna out for the year, who knows what's going to happen with CJs stats. I hope he doesn't have a whole load of performance based goals in his contract.Quote:

I had him as a flier on my fantasy league for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the season expecting him to get signed by a team needing a skiller runner... why the skins would pick him up when they have Portis going nuts this year is a mystery.
I just added him to my waivers though, might as well pick him up again now that he's actually signed.
I can't believe roy williams is on the cowboys now. I don't look forward to playing the cowboys, I assume romo will be back for the giants whether he's fully healed or not.
The giants loss to the browns might be the humbling they needed, it was weird hearing the media praise them.
In other news, I really hope the giants are able to get tony gonzalez. A TE that can block well and be a great receiver. Kevin Boss can catch, but he's not the receiver shockey is, and he definitely can't block nearly as well, he still needs time to develop that.
And great job pacman.
brad johnson will do an exellent job at qb for the cowboys, they have nothing to worry about. He is probably a better qb than romo anyway.Romo makes too many mistakes. But i guess we all make mistakes also so i cant really blame him for it.
doh, no TG, I haven't kept up on my football news today
Patrick Crayton was playing well too. I feel kind of bad for him now, guess he is more suited as a 3rd receiver though.
Gonzalez sounds like he's pissed. He is at the end of his career and apparently thought that a trade was a sure thing for him.
And Pacman is an idiot. The guy had a new chance at life in the NFL and has blown it. More often than not... this seems to be the norm with these troubled players.
I think it is a great deal for the Lions. A 1, 3rd and a 6th. That is a good if not great trade and will help them rebuild. A low 1st will be cheaper and thirds are gold. What would Williams do for you until next year? With draft picks, you can rebuild your team for the future.
The Lions raped the Cowboys. This trade is horrible. As bad as the Eagles have needed a receiver I would have been so pissed if they gave that much up for him. And the fact the Cowboys already have a top tier receiver and tight end make this even worse. They already have the 4th ranked passing attack. They are gonna redo his contract, and have a ton of cap space tied up at receiver. And a very weak draft next year. The should have made a trade for a corner if anything, they must have know Pacman was gonna get suspended, and Newman is already out. Plus the other Roy Williams is coming back, so that alone makes there pass defense much worse.
It seems to me Jerry Jones sees the team collapsing and is panicking.
