I believe I had mentioned that one in the Steam Deals thread over the weekend! IT IS AN AWESOME GAME AND I LOVE IT.
Just Finished:
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Personal Score: 8.0 out of 10
At first, I was not very enamored of DKCR. Put simply, I HATED the waggle controls, found the enemies largely uninspired, it lacked that "flow" of the first two games on the SNES...and it had it's annoying stages that dragged too long.
I eventually got over the "waggle" aspect (f*ck you, Wii. It wasn't even fun in 2006. It just blows now. Enough), but my feelings about the boring enemies, frustration factor, and lack of the constant flow that made the original DKC games great remain.
That said, it is a very good side-scroller and does a tremendous number of things right. Its art style is beautiful, the music is great, and most of the level design is quite good.
But sadly, aside from length (it's a decently long game), it just doesn't measure up to the originals. Too many "rocket barrel race" stages (ughh) and similar kept it from being as instantly enjoyable as the New Super Mario Bros. remake.
Good game, glad I played it, but a few steps off of being great.

Up Next:
SKYRIM! ;)
...comes out in a week. So I'm not going to be starting anything too deep or involving. I'm thinking either Super Paper Mario or finally finishing Ghost Busters on the PC. Maybe Call of Duty World at War
Also the old staples when I get around to them: ArmA II, Left 4 Dead, and NCAA Football 12.
I beat The Lost and the Damned. It was pretty fun. The filter they used was pretty grungy though. I started The Ballad of *** Tony and it is much more colorful and vibrant than The Lost.
I've been messing around the with mods and damn it is addicting. I installed a trainer right away and am having a blast. Fully auto shotgun lol. I can spawn vehicles and teleport, turn off gravity, throw people, etc. Definitely play with a trainer, its much more fun. I also have been modding the car models. I have crown vics for taxis and police cars. I'm in the process of trading out most of the cars with real, name brand cars. It adds a ton of realism to the city.
I messed with the graphics mods such as textures. The textures work fine, but the shader mods (like icenhancer) are kind of messed up. Sometimes the lighting is really bright, sometimes really dark. AA is a no go, 20 fps...
Good fun though.
Just beat Vanquish. It was okay but not worth more then the $10 I payed for it. The combat was a bit messy IMHO and the story makes no f-ing sense. probably the weakest game from Platinum I've ever played.
Hmmm, I was pretty impressed with the Vanquish demo. Really been trying to catch it for $10 or less.
Finished Forza 4 world tour last night (10 seasons of races). The credits rolled, so I guess that was the "story mode". By no means is the game complete however. I think I've only completed around 7% of the races and have nearly 200 races under my belt! Lots of racing left in the event list.
Ended up getting into the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R game. It was an adjustment from the pure run and gun of F.E.A.R. I prefer firepower over sneaking around. Also it took a little getting used to the Russian quirkiness. GF is from Moscow so I keep asking her what they are chattering about. She just keeps telling me they are stupid Ukrainians talking about nothing. Good game so far with all the patches installed.
Rage. Despite a few issues I loved it! Next up, Skyrim (will be catching up on my DVR backlog until Skrim comes out).
Just beat: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
What a fantastic game with an excellent story. If I had the opportunity to try and finish the whole thing in one sitting I would have but I must have put in at least 30-40+hrs into the game split up over 2 months or so. And that was WITHOUT killing anyone and checking out what I thought was the entire game. As the game came to an end I picked up the Pacifist achievement. Took me a few replays of the end though because I guess I accidently knocked someone off of the bridge to the broadcast room using the PEPS because when I first beat the game nothing happen. Went back to a save at that point and made sure to lure everyone inside first, killed the final boss, and voila: achievement!
If you are looking for a game with a great story, awesome gameplay, interesting characters (almost too many to keep track of although the voice acting wasn't the greatest), and a mix of RPG/FPS/3rd Person shooter (think Fallout 3 with Gears of War cover mechanics), this is the game for you. And I thought Mass Effect had an immersive story... holy hell.
I'm obviously going to be playing through this one again. Based on achievement I actually missed a few characters/tasks in the game! I'll be trying it on the hardest difficulty, this time allowing myself to actually blow people away. Can't wait to see how the Typoon looks :D!
Highly recommended!
Up Next: Gears of War 3 (still looking to co-op through campaign on INSANE)
HA HA ha...
Actually I must have slammed through BLOPS (haven't finished its campaign yet... hmm...) multiplayer from about last winter all the way up about July (got engaged, life got busy) and from there BLOPS actually lost my attention. I just couldn't get into it anymore. My brother prestiged to 15 and I think I got up to around 9 and was just over it. Bought and beat ME2 from that point, followed by Deus, and now Gears 3 is all I'll be concentrating on :)
Haven't finished anything, but I'm in the middle of playing a lot of stuff.
Dungeon Defenders when I have a more prolonged period of time to play, and some combination of Space Pirates and Zombies, Super Meat Boy, and SuperCrateBox otherwise.
I would recommend all 4. Very fun games.
Just finished playing Bulletstorm. Really had no idea what this game was going to be like. thought it was like Serious Sam, but I was wrong. It is a run n gun, but it does have a plot to it. I really enjoyed the game.
Graphics 9/10
Story 8/10
Controls 8/10
Weapons 8/10
Length 7/10
The graphics really looked great and I didn't have a problem maxing them out @ 1080p with an overclocked Q6600 and GTX 275. The game was only around 8 hours long and the enemies got repetitive towards the end. Would have liked a couple more mini bosses. Weapons were cool and each had a unique upgrade, but there could have been more. I thought it was neat how you were rewarded points for ammo/upgrades for different types of kills.
I would definately recommend this game
Battlefield Bad Company 2
SP-
Graphics 9/10
Weapons 7/10
Sound 10/10
Story 8/10
Length 7/10
Really enjoyed the SP in this game. It was short, but very fun. The sound is amazing. Each gun sounds different and you can actually hear the difference if you are shooting in a tunnel, small room, outside, or have a gun going of by your head! Wish the SP was a little longer, but it is focusd mainly on MP. Wish there were more weapons. Doesn't seem like there is much of a difference between using different weapons. The graphics really blew me away and I was able to max everything out @ 1080p with my rig in sig.
Just beat Gears of War 3.
Best game in the series although the ending boss was more frustrating then challenging for me. The Mp is fun so might keep this for a bit.
