You should really consider an A64 Socket 939 proc/mobo and R420/NV40.......30+k for 01 and 15k for 03, here I come! :p :D Nothing like super fast proc and VC to breaking new ground/score......no more tweaking for me!:D OK, maybe a lil....:DQuote:

here's what gets me though: i'm going to buy a 754 nforce3 250 mobo and an X800XT (if it's the fastest, if not then a 6800U) in June, that should give me a fast enough setup until august or september, when i'll build my new comp. for college based on 939/FX... but will i be able to use the X800XT in that or will i have to buy ANOTHER new video card after only two months because of PCI-Express?Quote:

I think you'll probably see at least a year of transition to PCI-Express where you will still find comparable boards with either PCI-E or AGP. It's hard to say, it'd be nice if some of these mobo makers leaked a little more about their upcoming boards. I don't plan on doing a cpu/mobo upgrade until I can get 939, and can make an educated mobo selection, but will do the video as soon as the dust clears and I can pick the right card. If 939 takes too long to become widely available, I might be in the same shoes you are in. Also, although I doubt there will be a difference in the first releases, it's yet to be shown whether the first-gen PCI-E cards will offer any performance gains over AGP. i sure hope your right. it would be really nice if there was an AGP and a PCI-E slot on the board that way i could switch in the fall/winter if faster cards are out.Quote:

My, oh my, it's gotten really quiet here as of late. Guess everyone's waiting to buy the next gen cards before running benchmarks again. ;) :D BTW, guys, can you tell me the real-world benefits of PCI-Exp? I heard it allows 2 way communication between CPU and GPU (I think), so, what does this translate to?:confused:
well i could go for 7600 2k3, but i'm not really in position to gain a spot on the team and it would requrie a video card bios flash, a reformat, and setting up my good cooling again... or i could just wait until i get a new card and really put up some happy numbers :)Quote:
