I LOLed at this:
While it's good to have confidence, and you shouldn't back down from anybody... Rhodes just sounds like an idiot.Quote:
Rhodes: Jets want to 'embarrass' Pats
The New York Jets are turning up the verbal heat on the New England Patriots before their Sunday meeting in the Meadowlands.
Already we've had coach Rex Ryan saying he doesn't intend to kiss Bill Belichick's rings, then leaving voice mails with Jets fans asking them to turn up the volume during the game.
Now comes free safety Kerry Rhodes, who told the New York Daily News that the Jets want to "embarrass" the Pats and plan to get physical with N.E. QB Tom Brady.
"You go out from the first quarter on, from the first play on, and try to embarrass them," Rhodes told the Daily News. "Not just go out there and try to win, try to embarrass them. Try to make them feel bad when they leave here. We don't want to just beat them. We want to send a message to them, 'We're not backing down from you and we expect to win this game, and it's not going to be luck, it's not going to be a mistake.' "
In New England, the Patriots refused to be drawn into a war of words.
On its Patriots Twitter page, the Boston Globe quoted tight end Chris Baker, who was a teammate of Rhodes for the last three seasons with the Jets, as saying "it's Kerry being Kerry."
Baker said there is no point in the Patriots returning verbal fire.
"What does that do? That doesn't do anything," he said. "The only thing we're going to do is we're going to play on Sunday. The only thing that matters is what happens on Sunday; anything before that, it doesn't mean anything. It doesn't do anything, so what's the point of us getting into that back and forth? We're just going to go out there and do our job on Sunday and that's what it is all about."
In all probability, I don't think that they'll beat the Pats... let alone embarrass them.
All this does is motivates the Pats even more... as if being a much better team wasn't already good enough. The Pats aren't the Jets last weeks opponent.
Hate to post this after the game...but the Jets D is for real and looks great.
On another note...Eagles looked like ish and Brees is lighting it up and looks amazing. He made some plays today that actually made my jaw drop. He is going to set some records this year if him and the offense stays healthy. The only thing that made me feel better after watching that embarrasment was seeing Jerry Jones face after the Cowboys lost the first game in that new stadium. Romo is absolutely aweful.
It's two games into the season.
I for one will be wating to see if they hold it up for the rest of the season or if they simply showed up to play inspired football for one game.
Definitely a good win for them... very impressive. But I'll wait and see before crowning them "for real".
There defense was already pretty good last year, it did not show as much because Favre had so many turnovers. Revis is great, Sheppard can be great. Rhodes is also very good. Chris Jenkins one of the best nosetackles is football (Gnata is problable the best). Bart Scott is as disruptive as they come and plays great in Ryans system.
The offense is the question mark for them, especially QB and receiver. So far Sanchez is doing a good job manageing the game, although I do expect some bad play from him somewhere along the line this season. wideouts not really household names, but as long as they play good who really cares. I have always though receiver is the one position that you can do without having a star player. Lastly, I believe Thomas Jones led the AFC is rushing last year, and Leon Washington is a great change of pace guy. they even have Bard Smith as there "slash" type player. More than all this, so far Ryan is doing a great job of not asking his rookie QB to do to much.
I am not saying they will be world beaters, but i am not at all surprised at their early success.
Oh Yeah...probably the most inportant part of a team, the O-line. 4 of the 5 starters are first round draft picks. 3 of the 5 have been probowlers.
The jets D looks beastly. The fact that Revis shut down andre johnson and then moss shows that he's a true shut down corner, which is very rare these days. It's not like he had a lot of double coverage help because the jets blitz so much, he's often alone
The giants had a huge win, they need to learn how to finish drives with touchdowns, they had this problem last year as well.
It's crazy how well the cowboys had the giants o line figured out last night. They timed every other blitz perfectly with the snap count. That was a huge win, another case of eli stepping up and romo failing in a big game.
Manningham blew up, hopefully this is his breakout game. Usually when the the quick pass to the receiver right after the snap when the corner is backed off doesn't work that well, but he pulled it off twice. Steve Smith is just continuing to progress very nicely
What is the deal with Romo anyways? He's got the making of a great QB, but just can't seem to keep it together. Maybe he's too much of a showboat off the field?
Not too long ago on these forums, posters were declaring Manning DOA. Suspiciously quiet about him now.
As a FF player who picks up Eli in the 13th round every year, I love the guy. He gives me 12-18 points a game consistently. I never have to worry about him. No one else ever bothers to take him.
becuz hes a gunslinger....lol
Seriously, the way the cowboys where running the ball...if he could just manage a game instead of trying to take it over. He needs to learn to throw the ball away or just take a sack. The ball also slips out of his hand when throwing more often than any other QB I have ever seen. He must have very small hands or his grip must be effed up.
Seattle now has 10 or more injured starters, including Hasselbeck. Same **** as last year. The whole O-line are backups.
At least we'll get a good draft pick or two.:(
Hey it could be worse. My team is the Raiders. Be thankful you don't have these clowns to root for. And no, I could never be a niner fan. I hate niner fans more then any other fan known to man. Trust me, I'm surrounded by these buttholes. Oh, Cal fans come a close 2nd.
Raiders look much, MUCH better this year.
Should have beat the Chargers.
Seymour has looked like a BEAST!
Jamarcus Russell should be fired and ran out of town.
