Edit : It's nice to see you hanging around here, Ranger.;) When is the benchmarking bug gonna bite ya? Are you aiming for newer hardware as well? I'm lookin' at A64 S939 3800+ + x800XTPE/6800UE/GT combo before I'll even consider running benchmarks.:D
Thanks for the compliment! I think I'm starting to hit ceiling on my OC now with the parts I'm currently running. Any advice on how to squeeze any more performance out of the thing?
You know me Mikey, I won't be able to stay in retirement forever. It's just a matter of figuring out what I want to use to make my come back. You know I am Intels #1 fan boy and I really want to use there chip, but they just haven't come out with anything impressive since the "c" series.Quote:

I love these new video cards, ATI and Nvidia, but to be honest, I am not a gamer and the only thing I would use them for is benching. So I guess i will just sit back for now and wait for Intel to make some waves before I jump back in. Besides, I have my other obsession, my 4X4, and that it costing me most of my funds right now. If you thought I was crazy with my computer systems, you should see my truck
Hi all, well the results are in! The POLO took 10c off my load temps over stock CPU cooling -- not bad for the price. :) My last successful 3dmark run was: 22089, however, the ORB was not responding so I didn't mess around with posting it. The ORB was up when I posted a 21930 run.
FSB 224 1:1 w/memory 2-3-2-6 1T
vcore 1.7
vdimm 2.9
vc OC 456.92/378.00
CPU temp 47c case 32 room temp 74F
Funny thing happens, either WinXP won't boot at FSB 225 or 3dmark fails? :( FSB 225 was the wall I hit with stock cooling. I figured running 10c cooler would get me a higher FSB? :( Anyone got any ideas how I can break thru 224? I thought about loosening the memory timings but the memory I got in there (OCZ PC3500ELDCPE-K) should handle up to at least 230 or so @ 2-3-2-6.
throw a divider on and see if you can get higher FSB. if you can, then the problem is the RAM. The RAM in your other system is better, you should switch them.Quote:

I've got a review of the ThermalTake POLO CPU cooler ready to go if anyone is interested. Who do you PM now-a-days to publish it on the SharkyExtreme 3DMark Team site?
That'd be V man, but I ain't sure he has the review section up and running though..... :confused:Quote:

Hey, a headline! Thanks guys, I like to see that stuff. Course I'd also like to see someone with an x800 or 6800 come take my score down too. I think the next few weeks are going to be fun on this page. I know there are plenty here getting the next-gen cards soon. I've got the xt-pe on pre-order myself, but I still may have problems holding the spot for any length of time since I'm going to delay my cpu/mobo upgrade a little while, recently found out I have to furnish a baby room! :D Still probably make an A64 purchase in the next few months, but my upgrade cycle just got a lot longer I think.
@ OS-W, btw, with my XMS3200LL to get to 230 with 2-3-2-6 I need to feed them 3.0V. Yours sound like they are topping out right about where mine do with 2.8V or lower, so the divider, or your other sticks sound like good advice.
@ Ranger, I hear you about your 4x4 expenses. Not quite the same, but on top of my other expenses, my Maxima is begging me for some "overclocking". Might start funneling some funds that way shortly.
i have finals this week so i should be studying but i'm still gonna try and get a better score. i got a new 105 CFM sunon 120mm coming in today. And i'll use my extra hard drive and install win2k and get some better drivers for benching :)
ok guys i'v fond an amazing NF7 Bios its alot better than the abit ones. I've been able to POst at 250FSB+ but my mushkin wont get into windows. So far i'm doing 2.7GHZ right now maybe 2.8 with some more voltage

Always nice to find something better. :)Quote:

Keep pushing it!
Anyone know of some ram that can handle a 250 FSB with decent timings?
OCZ EB
BH-5 with some volts
Corsair XL if you get good ones
