Nice score eshbach! Really not bad at all considering air and stock cooling on the XT. I hope better cooling on the gpu helps, a lot, doesn't look like much head room there.

any idea why my car high run is 5fps less than it used to be? i can't figure it out. on my 24k run i got over 120... now i'm just getting 115.
Be cheap and set LODBios to 5
I know it's a lame move, but it gives quite a bit of boost in nature
i know that helps alot on nvidia cards, but i don't know how much it helps on an ATI... i'll give it a try.Quote:

I'd like to see you crack it too. The only thing I can think of is maybe drivers? I've seen some comparison somewhere that showed CAT's 4.5 to 4.7beta getting worse in '01 and better in '03 with each release. Maybe try the 4.5's. It's probably just a matter of time before someone gets a good working mod of the pre 4.5 drivers too, that should help a ton.Quote:

@ icecube_of_death, I think that only works for nVidia. Hope I'm right, otherwise I've been missing something. :)

i don't know if that'll help but if you look the FOrsage 4.5 drivers are about 200 - 300 poitns above thew others you might wannat ry that.
eshbach you know you should run car last and then run it multiple times and save your score each time you get a higher score right? Sometimes you get good runs in car and sometimes you get bad.
It's best to run it last and then run it over and over until you max out. You are probably already doing it but I just wanted to make sure.:)
VERY nice 2k1 score eshbach ,can you give a score or a hint on your
2k3 score??
Oh 1 thing I found out a week ago (don't know if it's true for all video cards), I noticed that DX9.0b gave a higher score than DX8.1
It was around 150 points more on a test run. I did it strictly to compare the differences between the 2 DX versions. I ran the tests at 2GHz with vid card speeds at stock. The point difference might be greater when it's running on faster hardware. I'm not 100% positive if this is always true or not, but IMO it's worth trying ;)
vertices: hm... car run last? I usually lose 5-10fps if I don't run it first...
same thing happened to me on a win2k install ... I noticed 9.0b giving just over 100 points higher result than 8.1. this is in 3dmark2001se

That seems to be the thing with the newer ATI cards (9800XT and up). The lower CAT releases don't work with them (there are modded CAT's for the 9800XT) which may well mean that DX9 is better with the newer drivers. Even on the 9800XT's though the lower CAT's (modded) and DX8.1 were the fastest. Doesn't make a lot of sense that this hurts his score that much in car high since it's so cpu dependant, but may be part of the drop in points.
BTW, to my experience only re-running car low has any real benefit, and only until you either don't hit a barrel, or if you do you knock it right the **** off screen so the gpu isn't dealing with it's physics. Whenever you get through that run clean you will gain a couple hundred points.....but car high is the problem here. Re-running any other test, including car high, has hurt my score 99% of the time.
Same here. The only two tests I have gained on by running them multiple times is car low and nature. I run my order like this:
Dragon L
Dragon H
Lobby L
Lobby H
Nature
Car H
Car L ( I run this over and over until I get the one I want)
I also change my VC overclock for each test. I lower it a little for CPU intensive tests and push it as high as I can for the GPU intensive tests. I also use a memory recovery tool inbetween each test as well. If you watch your task monitor, you will notice 3dmark.exe opens at about 10 MB's and by the time your are finished with all the tests, it's close to 40 MB's. I have been able to control that problem a little bit by using a memory recovery tool. Lastly, I let my VC cool down between each test.
i will try 9.0b and cat 4.5 after work.
A little different then my order, but definately Drag Low first, otherwise you loose some big points right up front. I have heard that you don't get that DL boost with A64's though so I think a lot of those guys have shuffled it down in the order.Quote:

Good luck eshbach, hope that gets the points you need.
i run the same order as ranger except car hi before nature.
does the memory recovery tool help?
with the 9800 there was an advantage to running lobby first, but with the x800xt it's back to drago.
