The KV8 Pro chipset does come with AGP/PCI locks, I've check the bios.....seems that they're solve that problem. ;) Will post my '01 and '03 scores in a coupla days' time as I've still got some teething problem with my new rig.:oQuote:

good luck working that out and good luck with your agp/pci locks. Makes that 3400+ a waste if you get locks then you should just keep your 3000+ and get high fsb with it. I got 250fsb with my 2800+ 1:1 or 300+ with ram async.
I've checked thru bios, both my multi and FSB speed can be adjusted. Donno why I went with the KN8 Neo Plat, should have gone with Abit in the 1st place as I've always been an Abit fanboy, and have had great luck with their boards. I'm using my good 'ol trusty NF7-S to get on the net....it's rock stable! Don't come any better than this!;) I've checked my 3400+ speed, it's clocked at 2244mhz, I should be able to hit 2.4ghz and i believe this is fast enough to see me thru for a coupla years. I've scrapped tha S939 idea as I hardly go to my apartment....no need for a 2nd rig. Besides, an A64 3400+/Abit KV8 Pro/Albatron 6800GT/2x512 Mushkin PC3200 '222 Special' combo is pretty fast imo.....at least it's fast enough for me.;) :DQuote:

Edit : T'bird, it's true I did have a KV8, the Abit KV8-MAX3, but it doesn't come with AGP/PCI lock. This new Pro chipset has the AGP/PCI lock in place, so I can OC w/o worrying about crash due to AGP/PCI OC.;)
I'm really only playing at this point, but since it is number 1 here, and puts Sharky's on the Orb front page (barely), I thought I'd post it. This is only the 2nd '03 run I've tried, was with the X800 bios at my 24/7 cpu clocks. There's much more to come! Now that my cooling is in order the next will be with the XT bios. :D

Went up a lil for my '01 score, now at 25698.;) Everything same as previous specs except for CPU speed.....215x11=2365mhz....not gonna push anymore as this is a new cpu and I don't wanna damage it.:o :D

Yup, it's a VIVO, Sapphire to be exact. Just so you know, on stock cooling after the flash I wasn't 100% stable at XT speeds, 510/560 was more like it. These really are failed XT's, and they failed for a reason. Some cards are worse, some are a little better. Having said that; go for it! Apparently stock cooling isn't very good, despite the looks, replacing that made drastic improvements. I realize I made a pretty drastic cooling change, dropped 55C from idle, like 70C off of load temps :cool:, but I was close enough to XT stability to think just a high quality air cooler would have made the difference.Quote:

mikeysg, dont be afraid to push your clawhammer(1mb cache?) more! keep upping the fsb till instability than stop from there like I did! I think you can easily pull 26k! :D That will be 4000 marks gained just from a 3000+ to a 3400+, talk about a cpu bottleneck and how cpu hungry those x800 and 6800s are!!!!!!!
