I said Deus Ex because it was the first FPS to have RPG elements. It may not be a old game but it is VERY important IMO.

I dont know that these games are important for gaming but they hooked me. I had a Commadore 64 and loved:
Fort Apocolypse
Donky kong
Spy Hunter
Bruce Lee - I forget the real name but it did have bruce lee in the title. https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif

Ahhh..the good ald days. I found a Commodore 64 simulater a while back and played some of the oldies...was fun for a bit, just the nostalgia. But they got old real fast.

I was an ace at Fort Apocolypse. (Had trouble in Intermediate mode though)

I pretend I didn't hear you say golden eye.

I think everyone just about covered the shooters and such. But what about some of the old school Apogee stuff, Keen, Duke 1, etc. And anyone who has ever played and adventure game owes a great debt to Lucas arts, they gave us great games like monkey island and grim fandango.

Well you have all listed some great games. But, I see one absence that I feel needs to be corrected.

In the line of On Line RPGs...

The DIKU MUDs...

Evercrack, Ashrons Call, and all of the other current on line games in that category borrowed heavily from the DIKU.

i would say metal gear solid on psx ( then pc )
yes it maybe kinda new, but it had a story that sucked u into very quickly and dragged u along for the rid. it may have been a short game, but a damn good one at that. the way it was done, the story , the way it played, will probably make people look at the games they now create, that is why i think it is an important game!
