It a shame that company has to talk down their old product so that they can sell their new stuff. I doubt it vey much that the 9600xt can out perform the 9700pro hands down. Can't wait for some side by side test results.

they did simulated the specs of the XT before and the increases in performance is somewhat laughable when you compare them with the 9700, though 10-15% is nothing to sneeze at. What will be interesting is how much the XT itself will OC. Here's hoping for 650/700 atleast!

doesnt that suck? well at least you can still get em on ebay, maybe people will start dumping their 9600 pros cheap for the 9600xt with HL2 :) is the 9800 also gonna be discountiuned? If so, itll be just the 9200 for low end, 9600xt for high end and 9800xt for overkill LOL

it will work like ATI9800pro very near

blah, most wont mod without artifacting, screw that get a real 9800, flash it to a pro if you think it helps and oc it like mad! If you are cheap, a ti4200 will work wonders for $70
T'bird, what's your fascination with the Ti4200? Just about every post I see you in, you're pushing the Ti4200. :p Mind you, I think the Ti4200 is one helluva card for its price/performance, I've even gotten a Gainward Ti4200 128mb 8xAGP card for my nephew's rig and its running all the games quite easily. Just to clear things up for me, I believe a Ti class card's DX8, but what about the 8500? DX8 or DX7?:confused:
ti4200s give you so much for so little. sure they are dx8 only but I dont have any dx9 games yet and when I do, ill just run em in dx8 mode. ti4200s cost less than half of what 9600 pros do yet they eat em in 3dmark2001 and without aa/af and in dx8 mode :)

The Ti4200 will be faster by about 5-10% between those two cards. :)
