It wouldn't surprise me if Bose uses inferior electronic components, as well.;)
XP1800, I'm so stoked. I've been taking pictures of Kinder Surprise toys, fresh produce, you name it.:D Make sure you install some deadbolts on your dorm door. People will be jealous of your new speakers. :)
Produce? Geez you must be excited:p
I actually live off campus in a townhouse. My room is upstairs on the third floor, and I don't have a door, it's kinda wierd. They know not to touch my stuff though. My room is like the IT Dept. of my place, they always visit me when something breaks, haha:)
Anyways, enjoy that new camera!
hey soup, just out of curiosity, have you considered building a vertical stand for your working 560 sub? (just a piece of plywood with a hole in the middle and some legs) That way it's downfiring. They're easy to make and I think that it really helps with the sound.
Something else to try is stuffing a sock or two in the port. To me it makes the bass tighter and a little less prominent. More the way a refined sub should sound (instead of the way a typical teenage car audio sub does).
Other than that, real nice setup there. I'm espescially envious of your little HT setup. And the PM14's. Dang those are nice.
Thanks Bigmac!:)
Where you the one who posted pics of that Z560 sub stand a while back? If so, does it really help with the sound?
Man, you should come over to my house some day. Playing the dvd-rip(xvid) movie of the Matrix Reloaded in DD from my PC to the HT, would blow your socks off.:D Then you could stick them in my Z560's sub port.;)
it's a bit of a trip... you know, canada's a bit wide... and you're waaaaaay off on the side.
I think that the stand and the stuffed port helps, but sound is a really subjective thing.
I think that the stuffed port makes the bass a little tighter and a little lower, and that standing up the sub makes it seronate in my room a little better (it's right near the corner under the desk).
The stand helps with positioning mainly, and I think it provides a good resonating/reverberating surface (the floor) if you're not that close to a convenient wall.
I'll agree with Big Mac on the sock issue. I did this with my 5200's sub and it's definately tighter. Even though I had to raise the bass level up a little, it sounds much better than before. I even posted a pic of it a while back, maybe I can find it...

I might try that sock thing, after exams.:)
XP, I never get tired of that pic.:D
