Ifyou're waiting for MS or Intel to tell you - you'll be waiting a l-o-n-g l-o-n-g time
ask yourself this - how many years did it take you to find out about all the MS "hidden" files (Desktop.ini, Content.IE5, History.IE5, etc) - and to realize all those websites you've visited are being stored in the Registry withOUT your knowledge ?
Even when you clean out your history - it's REALLY still there - and ALL your Favorites are being encrypted (dismally) and stored in the REG.
All this since IE4 folks (Win9x)
so - What's the track record say to you ?
I haven't even yet mentioned all the newer DRM DMCA DEP HDCP --- ugh!
here ya go;

We're talking about information sent to someone not information stored in your computer. The examples you mention about the register , they are in your computer, it's not information sent to MS. Ok, I agree you didn't know what was stored in your computer, but it ain't sent. There are two topics regarding privacy, but in this case what most people care about is what is sent.Quote:

The pentium D is another matter.
Yes - well then - what you're talking about is very c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y dissecting thte Legal mumbo-jumbo the TOS, AUP, EULA contains...and then - how that language is "interpreted" - and by whom.
When was the last time you read the XP EULA - or ANY software for that matter. I don't have the time, nor the need to bring the jargon to my Attorney for deciphering. I go on Past behavior.
Sneaky and Sly in thePast
Sneakier and Slyer in the Future
The main point is they "could've" taken that Info, without your knowledge, and as a matter of Fact --> RealPlayer DID this for a little while there - but b/c you didn't realize that possibility exists, no harm no foul ?? What else could be possibly gained from NOT letting users known their files aren't REALLY being removed/deleted, and that their being "tracked/tagged" when moving about the web.
Ever hear of SuperCookies ? (just as one small example)
Until they give ANYONE a REAL GOOD reason to think otherwise...I choose to go on past experience, and past behavior -- and that CERTAINLY is NOT the direction they're moving in when you consider the other newest technologies
To each their own
