X2 4200 Overclock being a pain to stabilize

Is this TCCC/TCCD/TCC? ?
The best stable settings were to change tref to 3120 and drive strength to level 5 (I hear 7 works good too). TCC? works best with weak drive strength where most others like strong drive strength. The evens are strong, odds are weak. The rest of my settings.

well, i took the voltage as low as it goes on my board (2.6). still couldn't get it. runs for just over an hour, then prime crashes. games crash almost instantly.

i'll have to download that utility there and see what some of the settings that aren't in my bios are set to. i don't have the option in my bios to change tref though, no option for drive strength either in the bios

also, according to the mushkin forums, the memory i have uses Samsung UCCC

The board might be your biggest overclocking problem then. To put it in perspective. I can get 290 memtest stable at 1T as long as I keep it cool. I switched the drive strength to an even number to see how things would turn out. It gave me like 68 billion errors and froze. Lol. That option is the single most effective setting for stabilization. Tref is the 2nd most effective option.

yeah, i'm really not impressed with this board at all. it's my first asus, and i really don't think i'll get another. for stability under non overclocking sutiations it's been awesome, but for overclocking this thing really doesn't cut it. plus the bios on this board is extremely clunky and finicky. there's 2 separate places to specify overclocking settings, and if you make changes in one spot half the time it resets what you entered in the other part. :mad:
