Calling all Vista32 & Vista64 users -your thoughts.

I purchased a new harddrive to install Vista on. The installation went fine and it booted into Vista without any problems. I was able to mess around with it for awhile, but decided to install Office 2007 to get a feel for it. After that installed, it suggested a reboot. After rebooting, both my USB mouse and keyboard do not respond at the login prompt. Has anyone experienced this? I know that with Windows XP, the keyboard (G15) does not turn on until my computer boots into XP and is not available before hand. I was able to remove the Vista harddrive and swap back to the XP one and everything worked fine.

Have you tried std keyboard and mouse? My USB mouse worked and I had installed Office 2007.

I will try that next. I've been busy, so I haven't had much time to dig out my old keyboard.

For those of you that haven't figured it out yet, you can turn off the bothersome permissive window that appears everytime you try to do something by clicking your start button, going to administrative tools option, picking system configuration. Click once on the disable UAP line and in below window you can copy and paste the cmd.exe info. Click the launch tab and will give you dos window you can paste the info in. Here is the info to paste: cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Syst em /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

put that info in and hit enter.copy it just like it's written with caps and spaces. its worked just fine for me. You will get warning flag on your security because they consider the UAP as part of the securtiy. I sure am glad to get rid of the annoying permissive window!!

I find it amusing that Vista complains about it's built in drivers slowing down the boot process. heh

*Edit: Also, I hate to admit it, but I like the new 3D accelerated Freecell and Solitare.

Has anyone here had any luck using a Razor Copperhead with Vista 32?

I'm thinking of doing a marathon install/test of all my old games this weekend, I'll let you know if it pans out. What few games I've tried, I must say that so far, compatability seems pretty good. I haven't tried any of my older titles though.

I am just sorry that,many of my DOS games are not playable in XP.So I had to scrap them,much to my regret.

James, keep us posted on your success. I've been playing BF2 SF on Vista32 and so far so good.

Power DVD V6 doesn't work with Vista32 for me anyway; can't type in the install key.

How do you force Vista to use the Windows Logon instead of the user switching?

Guys I need your help.
I got Vista installed on a spare HDD,and I want to reinstall problem is I lost printout with the key.
Can't seem to be able to get another.Any ideas????

If you still have it installed, the key is visible inside Vista when you right click on Computer and then Properties.
