Because they were handed a 10 year old pile of **** and told to release something.

I have to say I've been enjoying the new game. But I have been extremely hesitant to jump into other people's games. Seems like everytime I do, 5 minutes later something comes up around the house that I have to go deal with, and I drop out again. Seems like it's more intrusive than it's worth and would probably be disruptive to the other person. How do you guys feel about it? Am I just being paranoid about this? I don't play many multiplayer games, so my etiquette is a little rusty, and possibly obsolete.
Ummm, how sure are you about that. I've only played one co-op game, and I recall other players picking up guns before I could get to them.

Says there everything is shared but the gun drops...
How crucial is latency? It would be good to play some co-op but as I'm in the uk, latency can be quite a bit higher. My steam account is the same as the one here, johnmcl7 (that's the letter l before the 7m not the number 1)

Yeah all loot is shared. It truely is a horrible way to handle loot in co-op. i really have no desire for PUG and play with randoms.
Yeah, the shared loot is pretty suck. When playing with my friends, we try to help each other out. For example, they know that I focus on pistols and sniper rifles while someone else might like SMG and Shotguns, so if something awesome drops we give first dibs to whoever is putting a focus on that weapon type. It's obviously not a perfect system, but it's better than having someone just ninja loot everything that drops. And I know whenever I've barged into Monroeski's game, I give him first dibs on pretty much everything that drops.
Cash, Eridium and even Ammo are all shared on pickup though, so that's extremely awesome.
Definitely awesome. As an aside, the fact that I've found almost all of my iridium through skag heaps, lockers, and small ammo-crates means that this games "Must open EVERYTHING" impulse is at an all time high. With the old game, the chances for good loot from small item repositories was statistically insignificant. In this game, it's the place I've found most of my best gear + iridium.
That's why you only play with friends and make it fair. For instance an orange shotgun dropped while a friend was in my game. I told him to have it, but whenever he finds a good elemental orange smg to give it to me since I focus on elemental damage.
I have no issue with friends coming into my games even if it's just for a little bit.
This game is awesome btw. I just beat the main story and am a level 34 Siren. Phaselock FTW!
Has anyone built Zer0 with the goal of staying in deception constantly? With the Law/Order item combo, a class mod that improves melee damage, badass points put into it whenever possible, and the Bloodshed tree maxed out (possibly put spare points into C0unterStrike and intentionally take some damage) it might be possible. There are also shields that increase your damage when they're empty, so while it might make you very fragile, playing with these shields intentionally empty could possibly work.
As soon as the first level cap raise comes, it will be possible to have Death Bl0ss0m and Many Must Fall at the same time.
This build would certainly be completely useless against large bosses, but in every other part of the game I think it could stand a chance, and either way it would be extremely fun to play.
I've been playing a crit-focused Zer0, but a crazy stealth melee ninja could be fun. :D
In other news, they are releasing Gaige the Mechromancer ahead of schedule. She will be available today! Woo!
