well...i think you guys can count me in. i downloaded it a while ago but haven't installed it yet...now i really do have a reason!! ;) i'll be glad to be part of a team! go team go! :)
I'm in, I'll be donating two rigs this week.
Hey, welcome to the team Schultz and Hans Moleman :)
And a belated welcome to Ranger.
Our Grand Score determines our team rank. Sadly I seem to have the worst WU to score ratio. My score really should be double what it is if I had Thermo's ratio
Any chance you were dropping units and getting partial score. With a bad PSU your rig could have been a bit unstable?Quote:

Well, been working for 27hrs on a 683 and I`m only at 2200/2500, is there any tweaks I can do to my computer to speed things up. I`m folding in the background as I use my computer, I have 95% alloted cpu usage to folding and 5% to the rest. This seems to work OK.
Actually, I think the client over rides settings from taskmgr.exeQuote:

There is something about that in the F@H FAC's
I didn`t find much about it in the FAQ`s or readme, about optimizing my system such as hard drive cach or anything else. I did get all my processes, down to the bare minimum and unchecked everything not needed in service.exe. O`well, I should be doing better when I get my second computer up and running, I will be folding 24/7 with it.Quote:

Yes that may be itQuote:

I do not think so. I got an error message and my 90% completed work was lost. Could be wrong.Quote:

my score didn't change from 9WU to 18WU. I've clocked my cpu back to default 1.73Ghz and dropped vcore to 1.4v just tobring my 5v rail up to 4.6-4.7. I'm still waiting to get my RMA # from Antec they don't seem to respond much to weekend email. Probably take at least a week to get my new PSU and hopefully crank clockspeed back up to 2.5Ghz.
BTW Thermo or any have you any experience with this: first post
I just checked mine and it looks like I`m running 3D Now, not SSE. It just says I have a 3DNow boost, nothing about SSE at all.Quote:
Nope, that's new to me. Looks a little buggy for me. I only have 2 old XP2100's running, and they seem to be doing quite well. Also I tend to run them in a load-em and leave-em configeration. They have are headless and are more or less automated. I usually only access them for patches and hot fixes unless I get an error on the Garddog console.Quote:

nm, I will figure things out.
Hi All, I'm onboard now. Set it up on my Server so it'll be dedicated to F@H except when my Sister downloads family photos :D
It appears to have two processes running in WinXP, FahCore_65 and winFAH that together are averaging about 99% of my AMD2000+ CPU.
Short question....
On one of my rigs, I'm only getting 50% usage for the FAH service. It's a 2.4 P4C. How do you get the second 'virtual CPU' to kick in as well? Under advanced in the service properties, I have both CPU's ticked. Or is it actually giving more than 50% as I suspect?
Oh well, both my 24/7 rig's will be putting up WU's in the next few hours. My 2.4 and XP2000+ are only on about 3h/day. Hope to have 3 more 2GHz P4's running 24/7 in a few weeks :) Like Thermo, we got servers that just won't be needed...
F@H has some issues with hyper threading. I think they recomend turning it off.
AMD cpu people might wanna try this here its the beta for 3.25 which supposedly allows SSE usage. I just grabbed it myself
I got it, but I guess I should have got the one with graphics, because I don`t know how to get into options or how to pause it or anything with the console. Fixed it by getting the graphic one. I`m outa here. Edit to add: I hope this beta is faster for AMD, because I just got a 400, that looks like it will take forever.:(Quote:

i'm using the 3.5 with sse now too, the graphical one...i don't think it's slower, that's for sure...but i don't know about neutral or faster, kind of hard to quantify...saps, why do you have such a low wu/score ratio? Is that just luck of the draw or what?:(
I believe I'm getting credit for units I have not finished. If I bring up the display on the icon it says I've finished 8 WU's. My PSU problems are very likely the cause.
so does the 3.25 seem to be running better for everyone so far? is it worth downloading and installing? i've completed one wu so far and i'm on my second. i've now scored two 2500s in a row...perfect way to start. how exactly are the points distributed? any one figure it out yet? just curious...and thanks for the welcome!
Well, I've been working on string p692_L939_K12M_int since yesterday afternoon (about 14 hrs) and only completed 146/400. F@H getting 99% of CPU. I guess some WUs are larger/more instense than others . . .
It seems to for me. I went to 3.25 and adding the -forceasm to my target. Its debateable whether the -forceasm is necessary to maintain SSE or not because 3.25 is supposed to maintain it. It doesn't seem to hurt though so I'm sticking with it. However like OSWiz said above certain WU's are faster and some are slower. I'm also on a 400 point WU which goes thru one at a time unlike the 500's which usually go in increments of 5 or the 2500's which go in 25's. Anyway, with 3.24 it was taking me over 7 minutes per point. With 3.25 and -forceasm its not less than 6 minutes per point. This is roughly the 20% faster they promise with SSE. I just which I was running at 2.5Ghz instead of 1.7Ghz. Still waiting on Antec and their RMA number.Quote:
