I've got a spare Dual 1Ghz G4 system at work. Shall I set that on the case? It'd be interesting to see how quickly that accrues points compared to my oc'd Barton. :)
Put it on any computer you have that still works ;)Quote:

How about the dual 5.25" floppy XT (8086) machine sitting under my bed? Bet that'll just zip through the work units. :p
One WU every two years will still be needed! ;)Quote:

I don`t know what else to say, except that we need you folding for the Sharky F@H Team. So join up today.
It looks ok. AFAICT you only need to change the machine id if you want to run more then one instance on your system at the same time. There is no point to that unless you have a multiprocessor system.Quote:

is that correct?
If you do have a dual processor system you can run 2 instances at once, but you must run them in different folders, and use the command line version not the GUI. You also need to use the –local switch or the two instances will try and write to the same work area.
I have it running on my dual AXP 1800+ this way. Unfortunately I don’t trust my IBM hard drives enough to leave this system on all, the time. My second system is always on anyway, so its folding full time, but its only a single 1600+ :(
Is that 1600+ overclocked? I am still clinging to my [email protected] and she is no slouch at Folding.Quote:

If anything I may underclock it to make it as silent as possible.:( It sits in my living room for playing music, and Video (TV out) etc, so I’d like it as quiet as possible. (It’s also mATX, so it doesn’t have much in the way of overclocking features.)Quote:

Ouchie on the no overclocking... but at least it lives a good life in the living room.Quote:

Like I said the overclocking features on the motherboard are almost non-existent. There are only jumper settings for 100/100, 133/133, 133/100, and 100/133 (No multiplier settings at all) and the BIOS settings are locked.Quote:

I understand it’s possible to unlock the BIOS by doing some unsoldering, but given the intended purpose of the machine I never felt compelled to do this.
bump up in hope of more recruitments.:D
come on guys! join if you haven't already, please! Now that we're in the top 250, we'll need your cpu power more than ever!:p
I finally got around to setting this up on both of my comps at home (Barton 2500 and TBird 1.4, soon to be a third added). I still need to do the tweaks for AMD systems, but at least they're running.
cool! thx for joining!:DQuote:

CONQUER ON!!
I haven't reinstalled folding since I formatted my HD, maybe it's about time I do that ;)
You've got one more folder on the list. I would have an old P3 laptop folding as well, but I gave it to my cousin for school (doh!) :o .
Good to see so many joining. A month ago I set what I thought was an unrealistic goal of the top 250 by Year's End. Needless to say we've already cleared that Mark. That victory will serve as our Helm's Deep. For indeed, at the onset victory seemed impossible but by the marshalling of our combined strength we did achieve it.
Now we aim for the top 100 by Year's End. Can we do it? It will be difficult. Many current members are anticipating the loss of some cpu production during the Thanksgiving & Christmas breaks. Thus we will need reinforcements. We need more cpus. Helm's Deep was a massive achievement. Now we have Battle of the Pelennor Fields. It will be longer and harder than before. We will need to draw upon all our alliances to achieve victory here.
Now for wrath
Now for ruin
And the red dawn
I'll be sure to leave my computer on here at school while I'm at home for Thanksgiving break ;) . Unfortunately I won't be able to leave it on over christmas break and my parent's computer will not be on when it is unused at home, so no folding during down time. You will get about one more month exactly out of me and then I will have to take a break until January 25 or so.Quote:

I'm running it 24/7 on my P3 /1.0
I'll see if I can get a couple friend's machines going too. I'm Big_Mac. (well no duh I'm big mac!!! I forgot what display name I used on this forum temporarily)
DO you have to be connected to the internet while running this?
