hoverbike I feel your pain. I was of the understanding that all 7800 varieties wrere dual link capable, but I guess that may not be. I hope you get this resolved. If you wnet for a clean install and still nothing, then it's probably the card.

I bought a Dell XPS 600 with dual 7800gtx 512mb and stilllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the Dell 3007 just goes black once you select 2560x1600. Thats five grand of computer with still no luck. Something must be up. The Dell shipped with Nvidia drivers 81.97. And no for all the other posts it is in the correct DVI port for dual link DVI. I am so pissed I am going to take a sh.. in the case and ship it back to Dell.
Mike
Update. I got word that the 7800 gtx's will not support 2560x1600. They will only support 2560x1600 on a quad sli box. This sucksssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!
Driver cleaning does not work either. So though who get a black screen when you put it above 1080x800 are fu.....
Word is wrong. The 7800 GTX will support dual-link DVI, and resolutions up to 2560x1200.Quote:

*EDIT* Whoops. Went back a page. Guess not.
Nope nada the big goose egg. I put it in the port which the is dual link dvi allows you to select 2560x1600. How ever when you select it the screen resolution of 2560x1600 the screen goes black and then back to 1280x800. I have tried three different computers including a new Dell XPS 600 with a Pentium Extreme Proc, 2 gigs of 677mhz ram, Raptor 74 gig and dual 7800 GTX 512s. Its a no go. I tried three different computers and even with fresh XP installs. Nope negative nada. So it may be possible their is a flaw in some of the 3007's This can be the only Logic. Your award winning dell support said the 7800 gtx's don't support 2560x1600. Hah
What BRAND is your 7800GTX's? Apparently, even though Nvidia reference boards have Dual Link, it does not mean the manufacturers have to include this functionality. In fact, most do NOT. The only brands that appears to confirm support for Dual Link for their 7800GT* are eVga and PNY and confirmed to work for some 3007 owners. Unfortunately I can't get those brands where I live but perhaps you can. Please let me know your brand so I can make sure I don't buy that brand in an attempt to resolve my problem. :PQuote:

This will be my temporary card/solution until I can find a suitable nVidia pair of cards to do SLI. There's 2 reasons why I want to eventually go back with nVidia:
1) I want to make use of my nForce4 SLI motherboard.
2) I'm getting a Sharp 3D display. It is able to feature stereoscopic vision without using glasses. However it appears that only nVidia supports this stereoscopic function. If you want to know more about this Sharp 3D monitor go here:
http://www.sharp3d.com/
I wonder if I can have an ATI card on one of my PCIe 16x slot and an nVidia card on the other PCIe 16x slot and install drivers from both companies to output to each respective monitors. Does anyone know if this can be done?
Anyways what a nightmare I went through with the pair of XFX 7800GT Extreme Edition. What I am most angry with was that the tech support falsely told me the card was Dual Link. I purchased the cards as a direct result of hearing his answer "confirming" it was Dual Link.
I am using the very basic EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB DDR3, part # (256-P2-N528-AX). It works at full native res while in SLI mode - I have run it both ways with no problem, but leave it in SLI mode full-time now.Quote:

Whoa...good choice Zoob. Did you get in on the 30" for $1600 sale today? I just ordered the 24" for $900.:D

Hmm...
I think I'm glad I went with eVGA instead of MSI now...
I knew that the Dual-Link DVI spec was nVidia reference only, but I didn't think that card manufacturers, especially ones that have up until now had a good reputation (Ie. XFX), would cut costs and stick on two single link DVI adapters.
That's pretty crap. Pardon my language.
Yup I ordered the 30" ...Quote:

EDIT: BUYER'S REMORSE! I just realized that it does NOT support composite, S-Video, or COMPONENT INPUTS! I won't be able to hook up my NES,SNES,DC and stuff up to it!
I found out Dell shipped out some 3007 with a DVI-I cable and not a DVI-D cable. The correct cable should have 24 streight pins and one horizontal pin. Dammit to hell. At least with the right cable it will work now. I picked one up at Fry's and it works. Yay. I am running drivers 83.10 by the way.
Mike
So all these problems have been caused by the wrong cable? Weird. I wonder if everyone else will be as lucky.Quote:

Weird.
If the problem was with the cable, then hoverbike replacing his vid card would not have solved the problem.
Tho it could be two totally seperate issues... who knows.
Hey guys,
Just out of curiosity, I read in a review somewhere that there is a utility to change your aspect ratio settings for the 3007WFP. I've installed the 81.98 drivers as well as the Dell 3007WFP CD. Now, I can see the "3007WFP Controls", but I can't find the section where you can adjust the aspect ratios. I hate playing 4:3 games stretched!!! Is that an option in the 82.x drivers? Unfortunately, 82.x doesn't seem to work with my particular display.
Flocons
My monitor just arrived here at work.
*drool*
Preliminary report: Feels like no input lag (at least compared to the 2405FPW)
Still no new NV drivers support. :(
deleted . . . . .
Just got my 3007WFP today. Went thru all the iterations with the blanks screens etc..
Final configuration that works:
DVI connector on 2nd ASUS 7800GTX 512 SLI card on connector nearest motherboard.
Other connector gives the black screens if over 1024x768.
nVidia driver 81.98, other drivers give partial screen draws; tried 82.12/83.40,82.65.
current problem: No SLI support for 1600x1200 resolution games.
OK, just heard from Dell. The problem is not the nVidia drivers they are doing their job. If you have it working on 81.98 drivers but not the newer ones then you have a Single link DVI cable. You need to buy a Dual Data Link cable from Dell or someplace else. The 3007WFP ships with a Single Data Link cable!!!!!
does this monitor double as a tv? does it have hdmi input? does it come with a remote?
Simply not true. Only a few 3007's shipped with the wrong cable. And why would it work on 8198 and ATI drivers then at 2560x1600 if not dual link cable?Quote:
